Innocence wasn’t a personality flaw.
Nicolas “Pure” Warner lived with the curse of a cute face and a terminal blush. He was waiting for his happily ever after. Yet he’d given up on finding his one. His partner and spotter wasn’t the type to settle down but he’d always been drawn to the other man. Pure decided he could live with that, but when powers outside their control took Raul away, Pure would stop at nothing to get Raul back even if that meant leaving the Trenton Security team behind.
Touching the sun only left you burned.
Raul Martinez was a brutal fighter. He’d worked freelance for several years at Trenton Security. There was one dark spot to the perfect job: Pure. The man was sweet and looking for forever. How did the damaged and unworthy ever hope to touch the sun without getting burned? And touching Pure would be a dream come true. When Pure endangers his freedom to save him, how could Raul convince his boy that letting him go was the only option?

REVIEW:
Ok there are triggers. Kidnapping, rape, violence, etc. Be careful if there are problems for you.
I knew, I knew, I knew, something was up with Pure. After reading through all these series and seeing how Pure acted and how he really was attracted to Raul but wouldn’t act on it, I knew something was up. And in this large overgrown family of the crews, it’s almost like you can’t get it without there being something from your past. But I never expected what I found. And for Pure, it made me rage for him and cry.
I love these boys like they were my family, even if they are fictional. And I’m afraid I’d be a lot like Peaches. Nobody messes with the family. And somebody has and it’s become a big mess. Raul went away for a few days for a job, only to come back to his hotel in Powers to a knock at the door and he’s being arrested. When it comes time to have Raul’s back, everyone seems to be dragging their feet and Pure is pissed. Everyone has seemed to abandon them when they’ve done so much for Trenton, and Pure is done. He’s gone off the grid and rescued Raul with him. But the people who want Raul dead, have found them and it’s ended badly. Raul is jailed and Pure is fighting for his life. Just when Pure was finally ready to be with Raul, their world is turned upside down. And Pure is going to get him back. One way or another. With a few favors from some unlikely sources, Pure sets out to fix it. But what is going to be the cost at the end of the day?
UGGGGHHHHH. J.M. you are KILLING me! Not baby Pure. Bless that boy’s heart. I love all the boys but there’s just something about Pure. He’s just….so sweet. Even as a lethal killer, there’s just something about that boy. My heart just ached for him so bad. He finally gets comfortable enough to deal with his feelings with Raul, and morons just have to go mess it up. Smh. Morons. There were a lot of lessons in this one though. For Raul and Pure, they trusted each other as they trusted no one else. Their lives depended on each other in the field. They had to have that trust. But it was more than that. Even with Pure not wanting to have sex, he somehow knew that Raul would never intentionally hurt him and that trust was even more rare. They also learned through all this, that sometimes they had to rely on others when they didn’t want to and weren’t sure of the people. But I think Raul said it best at the end. They had to learn the biggest lesson of all. Family isn’t always blood, everyone makes mistakes, forgiveness is necessary to mend bridges needed and true love can get you through just about anything. Even if you have to stay somewhere you don’t want to. Pure had to learn that strength comes from within him and he holds the power. He has the choice to say no or yes or purple for all that matters. He has the right to choose who he wants and who stays in his life. But he also had to learn that you have to let go of the hurt to move forward.
It’s not an easy thing. Forgiveness especially. We all want to hold on to some of the bad to help us remember and stay weary. But sometimes that rememberance keeps us from the things we want and need the most. It doesn’t make life a magic 8 ball to forgive and poof everything is ok. It doesn’t work that way. But in order to move past and move forward, you have to finally get to the point of letting go and accepting what the true love and family has to offer. It’s been one heck of a ride with these boys. But I will never forget one of them. I will always go back to them to revisit. If you haven’t read any of these books, then you are truly missing out.
