I appreciate that you’ll continue to review all books. I have several favorite authors some of whom seem to be staying at Dreamspinner and some who aren’t and some who have never been there, but this is one of my favorite places to read reviews and decide what to read next. I agree what’s happening is a total disaster and Dreamspinner is at fault for the way they’ve handled things but I don’t think not reviewing certain punishes anyone but the authors.

I think it’s great that you’re going to continue, it’s the only right thing to do. It shows that you support the author, not the publisher.

I support your decision and every other blog who decides to do the same as this blog or the take the opposite side. I think it’s great that you are supporting authors regardless of their publishers and are standing up for what you all think is right.

I don’t understand the arguement that reviwing authors who still publish with DSP is supporting DSP. It is supporting the authors. Whether people buy the book is their free choice and how can DSP pay authors if they are not selling books? It makes no sense to me. I obviously do not support DSP but people are staying for all kinds of reasons and should not be villified for that. I personally cannot leave DSP because I haven’t made up the advance and I would owe them money if I left, money I just don’t have. Changing tack completely, I believe in freedom of speech and trying to take away the impartiality of a review site is tantamount to putting a limit on their freedom of speech. To have anyone dictate what an impartial reviewer should or shouldn’t review is a step toward ensuring that there are no impartial reviews and how can that benefit anyone? I am proud to be a member of the LB team. I am proud of this blog, always have been, always will and I support your stance in this.

Thank you for continuing to support the authors, despite publishing company issues. The authors shouldn’t be punished because of the actions or inactions of their publisher. There’s going to be a shakedown, people are going to be hurt, but you’re helping to keep that hurt minimal for each individual creative storyteller. Bravo!
