LENGTH: 386 pages
RELEASE DATE: January 1, 2018
BLURB:
An ancient burial urn, empty for millennia, is suddenly not so empty.
When Detective Lieutenant Hunter Dane probes the murder at Natural History Museum, it’s his own past that haunts him. To solve the complex case, Hunter needs the talents of Camden Snow, the brilliant, beautiful, “no limits” Dom who’d helped him unravel a very peculiar, and very personal, murder.
But now, Cam’s ready to kill Hunt, himself! Their high-intensity D/s relationship that began in a playroom, ended in an emergency room.
Detective Dane is about to discover that history does, indeed, repeat itself. And his brain and body—humming with suspect information and sensual anticipation—want so much more than a killer behind bars.
REVIEW:
Hunter is having a really difficult time after the last case. He’s guilty over the way it ended – not only for the murderer but for Cam. For numerous reasons, Hunter thinks he is no good for Cam. Cam is angry and he’s not quiet about it. Hunt continues to punish himself, but when things with Cam seem to be going too far, mutual friends intercede and get Hunt back in the game. While Cam’s healing, Hunt has the brilliant idea to hire Cam to assist with his new unit.
In this new case, there are a lot of possible suspects and a lot of potential motives. There is even a possibility that someone who is close to Hunter is involved. The research is right up Cam’s alley and he’s happy to be assisting. The full team is back and they are in it up to their ears! There are lots of surprises and new information about both Hunter and Cam in this one that provide new insight into their pasts and their futures. The mystery is twisty and turny – just how they should be! I’ll not say more because I think the story is best read without a lot of preconceived notions. Never assume!!
This is a surprisingly emotionally satisfying follow up to Book 1. Cam and Hunter are dealing with the aftermath of the last case in this book, and I’d recommend reading the first in the series before this as it really does provide a lot of insight into both men and how they ever came to be together and how they affect each other. They are definitely working on figuring out their path forward in work and play and what kind of a relationship they can really have. Bombs are dropped in this one that shake both men. The new case that pulls them both in challenges them both personally and professionally. Once again, the heat between these two is off the charts. Although the BDSM club, Scene and Not Heard, plays slightly less of a role in this book, the members and the relationships they share are pivotal in their lives. I can’t wait to read the next book. Highly recommended if you like a good mystery and some very intense men. 😉
