TITLE: The Carpenter’s Prince
SERIES: 2019 Advent Calendar – Homemade for the Holidays
AUTHOR: Jayce Ellis
PUBLISHER: Dreamspinner Press
LENGTH: 43 pages
RELEASE DATE: December 1, 2019
BLURB:
Sean Edwards would do anything for his nephew, including designing the props for a children’s version of the Nutcracker. He’s ready for the long nights and weekends in the workshop—they’re part of the job, especially given the short notice. The insanely sexy head ballerino is completely unexpected, however.
All principal danseur Keni Jackson wants is to surpass last year’s performance, blow people’s socks off, and cement his place in the studio. The last thing he needs is something to shatter his carefully held control—like a cuddly carpenter who favors jazz over Tchaikovsky.
Sean and Keni are drawn to each other, but not everyone is a fan of their relationship. When Keni’s position is threatened, they have to decide whether to walk away for good, or if what they’ve found is worth fighting for.
A story from the Dreamspinner Press 2019 Advent Calendar “Homemade for the Holidays.”
REVIEW:
What a lovely story. I’ve always loved watching ballerinas and dancers. The way they move is sheer poetry. But I often feel like there are no correct words to describe how beautiful they really are.
Keni is the head ballerina dancing in this year’s the Nutcracker. He’s in the middle of rehearsal when he hears jazz music, soon followed by a buzz saw. He goes to investigate and finds the most gorgeous man he’s ever seen and wants to climb him like a tree. They start getting to know each other, until the owner of the ballet company says Keni is off his game and should put his relationship on hold to get his edge back. It doesn’t matter that everyone else is in a relationship, but apparently Keni being in one is all wrong. He does it begrudgingly, until several people point out to both Keni and Sean that it’s making them miserable. But is it too late or will the carpenter and the prince make Christmas magic?
Another one of those times I want to smack someone. The ballet owner is such an ass. He had no right to make Keni choose and all for money, pretty much. Keni is amazing as a dancer and it isn’t fair to single him out. It also didn’t help that because of Sean’s exes, he felt like he wasn’t good enough anymore. And I really wanted to smack that dude. Sean and Keni are beautiful together. It’s all about intimacy and love and getting to know each other. They make each other feel like the other matters and when that got put on hold, it hurt them both. But both of them have to decide what is more important in their lives. Being miserable, or being happy.
