It’s long-haul trucker Eddie’s first Christmas away from home, and he picks up the CB radio in search of friendly voice. He doesn’t expect to reconnect with his old instructor—and brief but passionate fling—Colton. Eddie realizes the scarf he’s been knitting symbolizes the love and longing he’s been trying to deny. When fate brings them back together on a lonely, snowy stretch of Iowa highway, will they grab hold of their second chance and acknowledge the love woven tightly between them?
REVIEW:
Sometimes a fling can be just that, a fling. But sometimes it could be the beginning of something more. Sometimes it can be what you have been looking for, disguised as a fling.
I think most people have experienced a fling, especially when we were still younger and experimenting. There are instances when these flings become the beginning of something more! Mind you, a very low percentage becomes something everlasting. This story definitely belongs in that small percentage.
Eddie and Colton, his Instructor at Truck/Long Haul Driving School, had a two-week fling while Eddie was going to school there. But it was just a fling, or so they thought, just two weeks of pure bliss.
A few months after Eddie graduated and on his second contract with a hauling company, and during the Christmas season, he decided to find someone to talk to on the CB radio. And guess who answered his call? Colton nonetheless! They were traveling on the same route or close to it. Eddie has never been with anyone else after Colton and that I think is one sign that his feelings for his instructor are way deeper than he first believed.
They reconnected and realized that they mean more to each other that they believed initially. They know it might be hard to connect all the time while they both fulfill their jobs, but they will find a way. Or as Colton’s motto says, “Get at it, kid!”
This love story is short and sweet, it’ll make you feel good and just in time for the Holidays! The author was able to relate a tale that is full of strength, determination and just positive thoughts. A fitting start to a Merry Christmas! Thank you Ms. Decker for this lovely tale!
