“You’re exactly what I never knew I needed.”
“I don’t have time for love.”
Gavin Campbell has poured everything he has into starting up his bakery, Delicious. Its success has given him a sense of security that was sorely lacking in his childhood, and even if working round-the-clock hasn’t left him any time for a personal life, you can’t have it all, right?
“Maybe I just need something delicious in my life.”
Outgoing, successful, and with an ass to die for, Ben Edwards is everything a girl could want… and yet none of his exes have managed to tie him down. He knows the fault isn’t with them, though. No matter how great the girl, Ben just doesn’t seem wired to fall in love.
“I want to be the one who takes care of you.”
When an accident leaves Gavin unable to work, Ben steps in to help, inviting Gavin into his home, his life and, eventually, into his heart. Despite homophobic relatives, a jealous ex-boyfriend, and more sweet temptation than either man was prepared for, they’ll each discover that just because they didn’t know something was missing, doesn’t mean it can’t still be found.
REVIEW:
This is a Gay For You storyline between two men who get along so well with each other that they are much like best friends. But one friend is gay and the other is straight (or so he thought). When you are really close to a friend, compatible on every level, sometimes lines get blurry or things get misconstrued.
Gavin owns Delicious, a bakery that is doing really well even though it’s just a year and a half years old. With his best friend, Danny, helping him out, it is doing better than they ever expected.
Ben is working on a promotional campaign for his family’s banking business. He is trying to gather their “select” clients for a campaign that will make their bank more visible, especially against the other big banks in their area.
What began as a business meeting gave way to two people starting to get to know each other on a personal level. Gavin has been all about his business from before it even started, he wants to make sure that everything goes smoothly, the day-to-day operations, etc. It is one of the reasons his love life is non-existent. Ben never thought of himself other than straight, until Gavin. Now, he is beginning to see things differently, especially the way he looks at Gavin, especially after knowing that Gavin is gay.
I love the chemistry between Ben and Gavin. When they started to get to know each other, they just click! I love how clueless Ben is, so much so that he is adorable and endearing himself to Gavin. But Gavin knows, as Ben confirmed it, that his friend is straight. Keeping the relationship in friend-zone is getting harder and harder. But an accident forced them to stay close to each other for the near future.
This is a very lovely gay-for-you story that will endear Ben and Gavin to you. Ms. Starling has penned a very sweet and delicious second book in this series. Although there is a very light level of angst, I think it added to the appeal of the story line. You will love the sweet, snarky banter between best friends and family. When we least expect it, love might hit us.
