When a Dom invites a shy bookstore owner to live out his fantasies, more than one life will be transformed.
Words are Heath Snow’s life. He can’t remember a time when he didn’t have his nose buried in a book. He couldn’t make a living as a writer, so he did the next best thing—he bought a bookstore. But when he’s not selling books, he’s living vicariously through the characters he encounters. Real men can’t hold a candle to the hot men in his favorite genre.
The Pride display in the bookstore window may be what captured Xavier James’s attention, but the man enthusing about books interests him more. The BDSM book lying next to the cash register is a pleasant surprise, and when he draws attention to it, Heath’s flushed cheeks and bright eyes pique Xavier’s curiosity even further.
Xavier is about to learn that some things are more important than work, and Heath is about to step out of his comfort zone, into a place where fantasy and real life coexist.
REVIEW:
“Oy! Can you guys clear out of there? I need my corner.” One of the men laughed. “Find another one.” Rob seemed aghast. “But I have my name in that one.”
My first glimpse really into the MM community was with J.R. Ward and Suzanne Brockmann, and after I discovered how much I loved that aspect of it, I began to dig for all the MM I could find. And Parker was one of the first with Of Love and Corn Dogs. And I fell in love. When I found the collaboration with him and K.C., I was over the moon when discovering Collars & Cuffs and my world was changed forever. I found tropes and genres I never even thought of. I was sad when I thought everything was over with the Collars & Cuffs guys, so when I realized they were making a spin-off series, I was super excited. I’ve grown to love these guys as much as I do the others and it’s been a blast getting to know these guys. And Rob, of course, up to his usual shenanigans. Lol.
In this one, we meet some new ones and have fun with the old ones. Heath dreams of someone taking him in hand like the Doms do in the books he reads. But he’s learned life doesn’t always work that way and he’d just rather stick to his books. Until one night, he met Xavier and his life was changed. Xavier was everything he wanted in a partner and Dom, or so he thought. Just when he was falling in love, his world collapsed from out under him and there may be no coming back from it. It was a slap in the face for him. A betrayal, almost. A lie by omission. But Xavier is as torn up and is at his wit’s end on how to fix it and make it right. Because that beautiful sub has brought meaning back to his life that he hasn’t had in a long time and he doesn’t want to lose himself again.
As you can see by the highlighted text, Rob is up to his usual snarky self. I remember when I hated him, but he’s grown so much and I just adore him so much. But I’ve grown to love the rest of the guys too. Ellis, Wayne, Vic, and now Xav and Heath. And we can’t ever forget Maggie and Maxwell. Who I’m about to not be happy about. But you have to read to find out what’s up with that. But even though this story was about Heath and Xav, mainly, I love that more people are coming out of their shells. Especially Maxwell. I’ve worried about him for a while and am anxious for him to get his story as well.
What I love about these series and books, is it’s all about trust and new beginnings. It’s about BDSM, yes, but what people don’t always realize, are these guys need that structure in order to be who they are. And who they are meant to be. It gives them confidence, a sense of family, a home, love and support that they don’t often have anywhere else. These guys love hard and they do their damnedest to make sure you’re welcomed to the fold, where they are safe to be who they are with no repercussions. Unless it’s Rob in the corner 😉 . He’s so naughty. But even with all that Xav and Heath have to go through in this book, they have to learn like everyone, communication is key. Trust and honesty are the most important in any relationship and especially in a BDSM one. Heath has re-taught Xav what he’s been missing out on in life and Xav gave Heath the world he finally wanted for so long.
It’s been some bumpy rides on the way, but the bonds and the family that have come out of it, have made these books and series so much more intimate and special. And I have loved every single one. I can’t wait to see what’s next.
