Feathers From the Sky
All Cal wants is a little privacy…
Cal isn’t enjoying the Christmas holiday, stuck in an overcrowded house with his huge family. His only solace is that Philip will soon arrive.
He’s worried introducing Philip as his boyfriend rather than his roommate could put a damper on the holiday season, but his dad drops a bigger bomb: the family home will be sold. Derailed from coming out, Cal makes it his mission to squeeze every ounce out of his last holiday in his childhood home. But there’s no way to disguise his love for Philip.
This holiday season is one of endings, but can it be the start of something even better?
Analog to Digital
All Ethan wants is more time…
Ethan has been telling lies. He says he’s happy with the status quo, but deep down he longs for a deeper commitment with Toby. So spending Christmas Eve at his sister’s vow renewal is the last thing on his wish list.
Witnessing everything he wants up close and personal makes him ache for more, but he knows Toby is allergic to marriage. Ethan has to decide: admit he wants more and risk losing Toby or find a way to live with what he’s got.
But there might yet be hope for a Christmas miracle.
OVERALL REVIEW:
These two stories are just perfect for the holidays. Some angst but a lot of Christmas magic. I loved the characters in both of these books. They’re strong and sweet. They may be hurting but they keep trying to move on and forward and that takes a lot of character. I love the family angle. The togetherness, the bonds, the memories and all of it. They were just beautiful stories I’m glad I got the chance to read. And if you haven’t read them, you’re missing out.

REVIEW:
This is a good story. But it reminds me that so many parents are not as accepting of their children as they should be. NO matter what our kids sexuality or whatever, we are supposed to love them. So while it’s a good story, it kind of broke my heart a bit over what Cal had heard when he first came out and what he keeps hearing. He just wants to be accepted for the fact that he’s bisexual and that he’s in love with a man. A man that’s not his roommate, but his lover. When it comes time for Cal to come out over the Christmas holiday at home with his family, he’s nervous. But when he sees Philip, he knows he has to come clean. Philip should never be a secret and shouldn’t have been from the beginning. But I get that he’s nervous. Sometimes, though, you just have to rip off the bandaid.
I felt for Cal. Never knowing how everyone would react to him finally settling down with a man has him scared. And when everyone keeps mentioning him settling with a girl or having kids, they completely ignore what he’s trying to say. So I get why he’s so scared. But sometimes, things aren’t as bad as we make them out to be. We tend to get in our heads and make the situation 10x worse than it really is. Or at least I do. I think Cal did too. But he’s right. Philip shouldn’t be a secret. He should be proud to show him off and such. And though sometimes it might take a minute for people to fully adjust, more are often just happy their kids are happy, no matter who they are with. And Cal had to learn to trust that his family would back him. And if they didn’t, then he had Philip and that was what was more important than anything to him.
It’s a good story. Lots of home memories and good times. Something to keep you warm on a cold winter day.

REVIEW:
This one made me cry so bad. But it’s so good.
Ethan’s heart is breaking. Every time someone asks if he and Toby are getting married, the automatic answer is never. And it is killing Ethan to keep lying. He wants to get married to the man he loves, but Toby said from the get go he wasn’t never getting married. And to make matters worse, Toby has booked them a flight to Ethan’s childhood home, to see his sister renew her marriage vows after a year. How is it fair she gets two weddings, when he gets none? And it’s ruining his Christmas and his life to the point he just wants to go home alone. But he realizes he can’t live without Toby in his life, so now he has to figure out how in the world he’s going to keep going without being able to hear those vows.
Oh my gah, I bawled for Ethan. Bless his heart. He’s tried for 3 years to just let the marriage thing go and pretend it doesn’t bother him and more and more, it’s getting worse. He wants that connection to Toby. Oh my heart just broke for him. But what he doesn’t know, is there a miracle waiting for him down the road. If he can just be patient and hold on. Because Toby is the best thing in the world for Ethan. And Ethan knows it. He just has to get over being bitter. It’s not easy. But when you’re with the one you love, truly love, sometimes you have to compromise, and sometimes dreams come true.
Bring tissues for this one. oh my word. But so good. So so good.
