New alliances create new challenges.
As Simon and Gray begin their lives as mates, the High Moon Pack faces new challenges from both within their ranks and from forces they cannot have foreseen. Simon and Gray must work together to protect their pack while also remembering that a pack is only as strong as its weakest member.
While the pack adjusts to the new allies in their midst, new relationships are formed among the wolves. Rocky Harris has been on the bottom rung of pack society his whole life. But his role helping the High Moon Pack to improve security gives him a new sense of purpose and brings him face-to-face with new ideas and Cade Montgomery.
Cade’s confidence took a hit when the pack’s cubs were kidnapped on his watch. When Gray asks him to work with Rocky, he knows it will be hard to keep his hands off the other wolf, but he soon learns there is more to the security specialist than anyone knows, and the mystery is as alluring to Cade as Rocky’s body. While Simon and Gray celebrate their mating, Rocky and Cade start on their own path, but their journey is not without challenges.
When someone declares war on the pack and puts everyone in danger, Simon, Gray, Cade, and Rocky will need each other’s strengths to survive the impending battle—proving the strength of the pack is in their unity.
2nd edition. Previously published as Poppy Dennison.
REVIEW:
If you saw my recent review of Mind Magic by this author, you will know that I’m reviewing this series as it is re-released. As soon as I finished reading Mind Magic, I jumped directly into this current installment. In Body Magic, Ms. Blake continues the story line from the first book and adds some further twists by focusing on a wolf from another pack who is currently on loan to the High Moon Pack to install a high-tech security system in the pack’s compound. After the cubs were cub-napped in the first book, the pack has decided to ensure it can’t happen again. But there is more going on than they know. We quickly learn that the security expert, Rocky, is some sort of plant by another Alpha who is intent on making the High Moon Pack his own. Rocky has been tasked with spying on this pack and giving information to his own Alpha.
This installment also brings us to Cade. Cade is a trusted lieutenant of the pack’s Alpha, Gray, and Cade still feels responsible for the cubs being taken in the first place. He was on watch that day and left to get something for the youngest cub. While he was gone for that ten minutes, the demon somehow took them. Well, we know from reading book one that Simon rescued them, so all is well that ends well, correct? In this case, maybe not. It turns out that the evil is still out there and might be coming for the pack.
I really liked getting to know Cade and Rocky. Both of them are outsiders. Cade because he is multi-racial in an all white pack, and Rocky because he is an Omega who has been shunned and talked down to his entire life. I was very happy with the way the story turned out for both of them and the growth I saw in the other characters in this installment. I’m super stoked that Ms. Blake kept the MCs of the first installment in this one and didn’t go off to a totally different couple and forget the rest as so often happens in this genre. I can’t wait to see what happens in the upcoming book three, and I’m guessing she’ll also be re-releasing book four soon as well.
I highly recommend this series to anyone who is a Macy Blake fan, or anyone who enjoys a good shifter story.
