Time flies the older I get. I swear the temperature was just 106 and I was enjoying summer barbecues and days at the beach. Next thing I know it’s snowing and Christmas is only weeks away. I absolutely love the holidays, but as an adult they’re definitely more stressful. Part of that stress comes from wanting to meet everybody’s expectations. That’s a pressure I put on myself really because most people close to me are happy with small or large gifts.
I’m lucky that my sisters and me split up the holidays between us so no one is stuck doing every holiday. I always do Easter dinner, which is the easiest meal to prepare. I got lucky! lol So, because my sister is cooking the Christmas meal, I get to show up with whatever she asks me to bring and enjoy the day with family. I do help with the dishes though. No one should be stuck doing all that clean up alone.
Even though I have miniature panic attacks whenever I look at the calendar, I’m happy the holiday are here. I want to truly enjoy them without fixating on the stress. A little spiked eggnog or a Gingerbread martini should help with that!
Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, or any other holiday I hope you have a wonderful, family filled day.
