BLURB:
Dragon shifter Edra has always lived to serve and protect—in ages past as a knight, and in the modern world as a mytho liaison to the San Francisco PD. Behind the scenes he safeguards the mythos community from scandal—and further human hatred. When the eggs of a rare greater dragon are stolen, Edra must find and return them before the mother razes the city.
Edra’s partner, Jordan, has just been promoted, and he’s on the trail of several stolen mythos artifacts. Together, they track the eggs to a colony of mermaids living in the bay near Alcatraz Island.
But trying to separate a mermaid from her treasure is asking for trouble.
As Edra and Jordan grow closer, they test the bounds of human-mythos relationships. But Jordan isn’t ready to mate for life, and Edra won’t pretend to be human for Jordan’s friends. With the hills on fire and a storm brewing in the bay—and in their bed—something’s got to give.
REVIEW:
Whew, this series is getting hotter, literally. If you love paranormal stuff like I do, this is the series for you. Dragons, vamps, mermaids and all sorts of other creatures. But what I love even more about this series, is it isn’t the pretty picture everyone paints these creatures to be. Oh, at one time they were. But having to be on Earth has changed many things. And I love the take on things in this series.
Edra is trying hard to keep things “policed” in the mytho world. But it’s not as easy as everyone seems to think it should be. With being on Earth, the humans hate the mytho and will do just about anything to set them up to fall or outright kill them with no repercussions. But this time, things can’t be left alone. Edra has to go back to the way the old ways were and it conflicts with Jordan being a cop. Mytho police things differently and it’s causing a rift between them, among other things. With all that’s going on in the community and between Edra and Jordan, it may be time for Edra to admit defeat and leave. He can only take so much. But Jordan doesn’t want him to go, the mytho community needs him, so what is it going to take for both parties to be happy? Especially Edra.
I wouldn’t wish anyone to have to deal with what Edra does. But I love him to pieces. He has truly earned his role as a Knight. He knows how to deal with the community in ways no one else really does. At times, it’s almost costed his life, but the rewards sometimes outweigh the bad. It doesn’t make it easy. Far from it. And his relationship problems with Jordan are part of what makes it harder. He can’t deny he wants the bond, but there is so much at stake if they do. But sometimes choices aren’t as hard as we make them. We just have to decide what is more important in life. And both Edra and Jordan have to navigate this while trying to navigate the ins and outs of their professional lives as well. Jordan being a human cop has certain things he has to abide by, but with Edra being mytho, he doesn’t. It’s a push and pull. A balance that has to be figured out and it’s not an easy thing to do. So I don’t envy either one of them for what they are having to deal with. But it makes for a hell of a story.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this series so far and hope that there are more coming soon. This series is one of those you can’t put down. The beings alone make it interesting. It’s a murder mystery, paranormal story, romance and everything else rolled into one. It’s a great series. And a great different way to look at things. I love everyone’s different takes on the paranormal community. Highly, highly recommended.
