Sayer Mills has learned the hard way not to be too trusting, yet something tells him he can trust the handsome firefighter who kindly offers him shelter from the elements. The young widower has sequestered himself in his cottage in the woods with only his huge dog for companionship, and Sayer finds himself wanting to bring a little joy into the house in return for Dane’s kindness.
With mutual attraction growing between the two men, Dane wonders if he can convince his house guest to stay longer than the holidays, and Sayer second guesses his plan to head to the next town.
The Key to his Heart for Christmas is 21k of holiday sweetness mixed with the passion you’ve come to expect from a Rebecca James MM romance.
REVIEW:
Dane is a young widow and a fireman. He married his best friend and lost her two years prior. He is happy living in the country with his dog. Although this Christmas, he wishes that would not have to spend it alone.
Sayer Mills is down on his luck, having lost his job as a hotel manager, he has tried to find a new one but still has had no luck. He has used up all his savings and was travelling on his car to other towns to look for any job, when even his car got stolen. He didn’t want to ask for help from his friends because they have their own lives and challenges to face. He has been estranged with his family ever since he came out.
When Dane found a man huddled under the bridge in the middle of a snowstorm, his heart went out to the man and even if the man is a total stranger, he invited him to come and stay at his house until after the storm.
As they get to learn more about each other, they began to see each other in a different light and feelings start to develop. They feel very comfortable with each other at the onset, and even more when they got closer and closer.
This is a feel-good, in-the-spirit of Christmas novella which will endear Dane and Sayer to you. The kindness of Dane, which I know a lot of people still possess, and the unwavering spirit of Sayer will make us feel hope in ourselves and in humanity. I love the community where Dane works and lives. Small towns have a totally different aura than cities or bigger towns. This story has all of these, and just in time for the holiday season, I am sure this story will make you fall in love more!
Ms. Rebecca James’ stories are full of sweetness and the sex scenes are beautiful and intense. Her characters are sometimes flawed but so endearing. Although this story is a bit short, it is still full of the qualities that we love from all of Ms. James’ books!
