REVIEW:
I had to giggle at first and then I felt kind of sad, because I remember when Christmas was a bigger deal for me. I saw it through the eyes of my daughter and now I just feel like Nico does in this book. It’s commercialized, and I hate all the decorating now, only to put it up a month later. I will admit I’ve lost my zest for Christmas. I only do it for my kid. And it kind of saddened me because I hate that I’ve lost that feeling, but then I get annoyed because even before Halloween gets here, it already everything Christmas. And of course, I feel like Scrooge. Maybe I need a Terry to make Christmas special again 😉 . It seemed to work for Nico. But then Terry has a special magic of his own that just makes everything seem brighter. This is such a sweet holiday story. And it is perfect for you guys to get into that holiday feel.
Terry was excited to be decorating now that Halloween was over. Christmas was a huge thing in this small town and it was huge for Terry. It always has been. It brings special memories of his grandmother, especially when he unpacks her special snow globe. But it’s the feeling he gets being around people and the magic he feels around the holiday. When he decides to walk around town to see everything, he gets more than he bargained for this time. A few choice words from a man who had a butt like a god, and Terry couldn’t stop himself from seeing what was up. Nico was trying to put up lights for Christmas and decorate for the holiday tour so people could see the house and maybe he could sell it faster. But nothing is working for him. So he begs Terry to help him, and Terry complies. What neither bargained for was the attraction that kept building. To the point that friendship quickly was becoming much more. But Terry heard through the grapevine that Nico was still planning to move back to the city and Terry’s heart shattered. What will it take to make Nico stay or can Terry give up the one place he calls home to be with Nico?
I think everyone needs a Terry. He’s just so special. He’s got that personality that you can’t help but just love. You just want to hug him all day long and pinch his cheeks or something. He’s just a doll. I absolutely adore him. And he’s perfect for Nico. He brings Nico out of his shell and brings the fun back in Nico’s life that’s been missing for a long time. Just because you’re an adult doesn’t mean you can’t act like a kid and have fun at times. It doesn’t mean life ends and you have to be serious all the time. Life for Terry means laughter and joy. It doesn’t mean it’s an everyday thing, but he does his darndest to make sure he leads a happy life. And for Nico, that means the world. Terry brings a special light into Nico’s life that’s never been there before and it’s causing him to rethink a lot of things.
This is just the sweetest story and a great start off to this series. As I understand, they can all be read as standalones. I know another in this series is a part of the same town. Not sure if the others are. But even if they are or aren’t, this book is a great start and I’m anxious to see how the rest turn out.
