The west coast of Vancouver Island is one of the few places to boast world-class winter surfing, and Vancouverite Kellan Tremblay hits the waves as often as possible. On the ferry crossing to the island, he meets Australian Jax Colston. Jax is there for some snowboarding. He’s intrigued to discover that not only is winter surfing a thing, but you can surf and ski in the same day. Sensing a kindred spirit, Kellan offers to play tour guide and gives Jax a place to stay in his spare room.
The two men bond over all things surf and snow, and it isn’t long before their passion for life lands them in bed together. Neither wants the week of cold days and hot nights to end, but Jax has to go home soon. Still, Jax doubts he’ll stay away for long. The draw of fresh powder, the long hot nights and the thrill of just being with Kellan will keep him coming back for a long time….

REVIEW:
Kellan is headed back to Vancouver Island for the first time in nearly a year. His last visit ended badly and he hasn’t had the desire to return. But on the way over on the ferry, he meets Jax, an Australian snowboarder who has been touring the US and Canada for the previous three months and this is his final week before returning home to Australia. Kellan manages to convince Jax to come with him to experience winter surfing – something Jax thinks is absolutely crazy, but he’s willing to give it a go with the very attractive Kellan.
On the way to Kellan’s “surf shack” they stop and tour some of the other beautiful sites on Vancouver Island. The old growth forest is particularly spectacular to Jax. Their flirting also ramps up another notch during the drive. Once they arrive, Kellan initiates Jax into the wonderful world of winter surfing. Although it’s crazy cold Jax really enjoys himself. Kellan’s local friends are also happy to see him back and they seem to interrupt him and Jax every time things get cozy 😉
When at last the two finally make it to the mountain for some snowboarding, they’ve gotten very close and both are reluctant to part. Returning to Vancouver and Jax’s flight home the next day, they have a final night together. Kellan takes Jax to the airport, but he keeps hoping that maybe Jax will change his mind and stay. They agree to keep in touch, and they do, but it’s not the same. Can they figure out a way to be together?
This is a really sweet love story. I really liked both Jax ad Kellan. Kellan’s neighbors and friends at his “surf shack” were so sweet and supportive. I loved Lacey and her whole family. Kellan getting his mojo back with Jax was fun to watch. Even though things happened pretty quickly, it seemed like they had so much in common and enjoyed the same things and had the same outlook on life which are so important to a sustainable relationship. I actually really like these vacation “fling” stories that turn into more. Full disclosure – Vancouver Island is one of my favorite places, so I absolutely adored this setting. This was just a really lovely read that left me feeling warm and happy.
