BLURB:
Charlie Rourke is an ultra fabulous human whirlwind on a mission to launch the next biggest band in the world. However, he might have taken on more than he could handle when he signed on to manage Zero. Promoting a rock band and finding gigs shouldn’t be hard. They’re a talented group with a ton of star power. If Charlie can find the right record label, he’s sure he can help them get to the next level. The only problem is the skater boy slash bassist with a quirky sense of humor. He’s annoying and silly, and he’s exactly Charlie’s type. Except he’s straight.
Ky Baldwin isn’t afraid to switch things up. He loves a challenge as much as anyone, but Charlie doesn’t make things easy. Zero’s manager is a force of nature with a razor sharp tongue, a quick wit, and a no-nonsense attitude. Ky can’t stop thinking about him. Winning over Charlie becomes Ky’s pet project. But when the ice between them thaws, neither is prepared for the intensity of going from enemies to lovers. They’ll have to decide if they’re willing to start from scratch and take a chance on the unexpected.
REVIEW:
When we meet Charlie in the first book of this series, I was in serious doubt he would be a character that I would like – I was so very wrong. He’s a wildfire and a force to be reckoned with barely a moment to breath. How is this strong willed guy going to find his match? Why does he hate the bassist so much from the band he’s now managing? Is Ky the one for Charlie? Can they reconcile their very different personalities and make a connection?
And with that premise, Lane Hayes turns out another excellent novel. The characters are so fully developed, with the good and the bad. I get so lost in her books and she takes you to a realistic and wonderful, gritty world. With a fine balance of joy and sadness, this book takes the next step as the new band tries to get off it’s feet. Along the way there are some surprises – how can a so over the top guy be tamed? Can a guy with a giant weight of his past life go forward?
This is a book I’ll remember for a long time, not just the main MC but there’s what could be called a villain that could possibly be one of the worse people I’ve ever read in a story. That Hayes created this character just shows how diabolical and creative is her writing. To even think like she does is pretty brilliant.
You don’t have to have read the first book to read the second, but they’re both so good I’d say start with the first. I’m hoping she continues the series as it’s an interesting world and the characters that inhabit it. One becomes truly invested in their lives. A great book about the music world and I’m honored to have gotten to review it
