Unmated omega Karson Jenks has already had three heats, but he’s barely twenty and too busy at university to ponder finding a mate. But all thoughts of planning his own future flee when someone he loves gets a devastating medical diagnosis. Their close-knit family rallies to support each other, and the last thing Karson expects is to stumble across his bondmate in a public lobby.
Alpha Rebel Lee spent the first eighteen years of his life as an emotional and physical hostage to brutal men, and he did his very best to protect his two adopted brothers from the worst of the violence. Two years after their rescue—and intense, in-patient psychological therapy—Rebel is a free man, eager to reunite with his beloved brothers, and to rebuild his life. What he doesn’t need is the complication of scenting his bondmate. Rebel has no job, no real education, and he lives in cheap government housing. What on earth can he offer an omega mate?
Karson is thrilled to have discovered his bondmate but also intensely curious about the Lee siblings. They aren’t blood related, have no birth certificates, and didn’t even exist on paper until two years ago. When Karson’s constable sire investigates further, the secrets he discovers rock both families to their core. With someone Karson loves dearly fighting a losing battle and Rebel terrified to step up for his bondmate, both men must learn to rely on each other to get through the most devastating week of their lives.
REVIEW:
Holy mother of pearl. It’s started with Breaking Free and that series and it’s continued with the kids in this series. I thought Breaking Free would break me with all was going on, but this generation has its own set of difficulties and the omegins and sires get older and the kids are growing up. And as much as it wrings my heart at what’s going on, I couldn’t be more prouder of
how these kids have turned out.
In this one, it’s everyone’s story, obviously, but it focuses more on Karson, Jax’s oldest son. The one he escaped the fight ring with and was on his own with for a month. Karson is all grown now. 20, going to uni, and doing volunteer work to help pay back and pay it forward. What he didn’t intend to find when he went to volunteer that day, was seeing Hyatt and his brother, who is his bondmate. But after smelling the man and knowing just a touch of things, Karson ran. He called Hyatt back later so he could apologize to Rebel for leaving like that. He was just overwhelmed. What he didn’t count on either, was the full story of their pasts and how they are all connected. Especially when DNA tests starts rolling in. They are connected to the fight rings as well, their omegins having died. But when the police started investigating more, betrayals started rolling in and they couldn’t believe what was being hidden. When they found out it was a blow to Rebel, Hyatt and their other brother, Symon. Especially when Symon almost lost his life. And the sad part is, more blows are coming. But these guys, as always, join together as a family, bringing these new boys into the fold so easily. Now everyone just has to fight to keep going another day, one step at a time.
As in the other stories, as well as the Breaking Free series, this story deals with rape, starvation, tortures of sorts among other things. It’s not been an easy life for Rebel and his brothers. But after two years of being away, all he wants now is to focus on him and his brothers and them getting back together. Possibly living together. But meeting his bondmate, Karson, has thrown a wrench in the mix. All his doubts, fears and insecurities keep creeping up and he’s terrified. He never wants to hurt Karson and wants to be the best possible alpha to this sweet omega. But what he also didn’t figure, was by being Karson’s bondmate, he and his brothers just got an extended huge ass family that love them like they have always been there. It’s overwhelming at times, but he’s learning to accept it. As well as his brothers.
I love these new three boys. I love how they all intertwine. And although I HATE cliffhangers, I’m really anxious to see where book 3 is going to lead, because A.M. dropped a bombshell from hell on everyone at the end of the book. I love this series. I love seeing these kids all grown and flourishing. Even with the hiccups that happen, they keep pushing on and forward. They circle the wagons and stay together as a family. All of them. And now there’s three more to add to the mix. I love how Karson and everyone has been so patient with these three. They’ve let the boys set their pace on how to proceed and it’s been a hard but amazing journey.
