Faerie horses should at least show up on time. That’s Aidan’s opinion, anyway. He’s been waiting for the pooka all night, to catch it stealing apples from human orchards. This Magical Enforcement Division assignment’s supposed to be easy — and Aidan could use the break, after a previous case gone badly wrong. But when the apple-thief pooka does show up, it takes the shape of a gorgeous young man … who doesn’t seem to mind being captured at Aidan’s hands.
Ink left his herd to seek out adventure, and he’s found it in the form of a devastatingly handsome MED agent. He’s always been up for a challenge, and Aidan Callahan is certainly that: gorgeous, powerful, and good at his job. Ink’s perfectly happy to let Aidan put a hand — or an enchanted bridle — on him, especially with that note of command. It’ll be simple and fun, a decadent magical one night stand … and Ink knows they’ll both enjoy it.
But this night isn’t simple. Ritual magic and Aidan’s own complicated gifts collide, and the family legacy he’s been avoiding becomes important, though Aidan’s starting to think it isn’t as important as keeping Ink in his arms.
REVIEW:
I kind of had a hard time with this book, which really disappointed me because I love K.L. Noone’s stories. But this one bothered me more because it seemed like one long drawn out sex scene. And essentially, it was.
Aidan is on a short mission to capture a fae horse shifter from stealing apples from orchards where he’s not supposed to. He does capture the horse, but in good faith and what he thought was a mutual understanding, he let the horse go. But the horse just ran off, trying to kick Aidan on the way out. But Aidan’s magical voice spreads over the area and the fae now knows he will be found no matter what. Aidan not only finds him, he names him and they both are enraptured in the chemistry they have. Which leads to a whole lot more. But their pasts have caused them to both be a little leery, even though they both want each other so much. Now they have to figure out what is more important with each other.
It’s a good little story for the most part. There’s a lot of chemistry and the characters are sweet. I liked them both. They both have a bit of sass and both are in a way shy in certain things. But they both can’t deny what they have between them and what they want. The push and pull of things between them and all that that means.
Like I said, I just wished there was a bit more of a plot to it. It started off so interesting with some of the other cases Aidan was working. So I was ready to see more of that, but it wasn’t there.
