Insanity was in the eye of the beholder.
Harmon Little was a surveillance expert. He lived in the shadows, and he liked it there. There wasn’t a place he couldn’t get in and out of without detection. As usual with his mischievous nature, his current assignment went south, and he ran. He thought he was free and clear until he knocked someone over in a grocery store aisle.
Sanity wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.
Solomon “Solo” Poe was counting calories. Working out until he fell into bed hungry and exhausted. He was plain and pudgy, plus he couldn’t remember when he’d last gone on a date. He wanted more than the occasional, lights out, one-night stand. So, he was going to lose the weight and find himself a man. At least that was the plan, then a big man with a huge smile tried to kill him in a store aisle. There was one thing he was sure of, Harmon was his.
REVIEW:
I am STILL sitting here crying off and on over this book. All of these books have hit me hard with what these boys have been through. I’ve raged with them, hurt with and for them, broken down over the guys like Liv and Joker. But this one, made me ugly cry in bad ways. I don’t want to give it away, but it is a very emotional story. Not one necessarily from abuse but from neglect. And it has just as much of a lasting effect.
Little ducked in the store when he realized he was made from a job he’d been doing. And on his way to running out the door, he bumps hard into the most adorable man he has ever seen. And like Lily told him, he felt the lightning as soon as he saw Poe. For Poe’s safety, in case he was being followed, he kidnapped the man and was so smitten. But with his brokenness and no one ever wanting him or wanting to stay with him, why would Poe be any different? But Poe was different. Something in Harmon called to Poe and he wanted this man with a fierceness he’s never known. But he’s just as insecure because he’s a bit chubby and soft. No matter how well he eats or exercises. But he’s had to put aside his own insecurities the more he gets to know Harmon, because he sees the need in Harmon for him and he’s going to make damn sure that Harmon knows he’s Poe’s.
The tears just keep pouring over this sweet and crazy man. Harmon Little is a big kid. He really is. He’s a lost little boy in a grown man who just wants to be touched and loved. But his past has left him doubtful, fearful and severely insecure. And his joking around is sometimes just a cover for what he’s trying to hide. Not always, because he’s a little booger. I was so happy when he literally ran into Poe. Even though Poe was a bit scared at first that he may be killed or something, he soon realized he liked this big, seemingly shy man. And mine was the only word that kept popping in his mind. He knew he’d have to be slow with Harmon. Love him, cherish him and adore him like no other. And the benefits from it were worth more than all the gold in the world plus some.
It is so hard when you crave affection and try to get it any way you can. Just a simple touch. A hug. Something. But when you’re denied or treated like dirt for needing it, it makes you turn into yourself and you doubt anyone who could possibly truly love you. Little has a hard journey in this book. It will break every inch of your heart. But the outcome from what he gets, is what makes it all worthwhile. Just one more man I’ve fallen in love with in these books.
