One of Santa’s elves is fed up with tinsel, mistletoe, lawn angels, and everything Christmas. Bah humbug!
With the costume for his office Christmas party chafing at him and his dream promotion lost to his firm’s new wunderkind, snarky numbers guy Kyle resolves to change his whole life, starting with kicking his lackadaisical artist boyfriend, Vince, to the curb. Little does he know that Vince is playing Santa this year and has plans for his Scrooge-like elf.
Poor but happy Vince doesn’t need to be rich, but he does need Kyle, and with Christmas only a day away he doesn’t have a lot of time to set his plan to keep him in motion. Hopefully, he’s not too late to show Kyle what’s truly in his heart, and what Christmas really means.

REVIEW:
Note: This is a re-release of a story that was part of the 2018 Rainbow Advent Calendar Giveaway.
Kyle is a guy who is worried – about the future, about money, about getting the promotion he wants, about staying with his boyfriend. Really given the way he grew up – with a neglectful mother whose whereabouts he neither knows, nor cares, it’s not really that much of a surprise. But by this age, he should have maybe been trying to get a handle on this “waiting for the other shoe to drop” mentality. But he hasn’t. Even though is best friend at work, Alissa, keeps trying to tell him money isn’t everything and that he should be thankful for his boyfriend Vince. But Kyle is so far in his own head and doomsday worst case scenario perspective that he can’t see it.
Vince loves Kyle. Desperately. He’s trying to do everything in his power to give Kyle what he thinks he needs. He intervenes in Kyle’s costume plans for his work costume party – which Kyle has been stuck planning on Christmas Eve! What kind of a horrible boss plans the office Christmas part with bonuses and promotion announcements on Christmas Eve??? Despite what Kyle thinks, Vince wants to give him the best Christmas ever and even though his plan doesn’t go entirely as he envisioned, he gets an ever better result than he hoped for.
I enjoyed this short story about Vince and Kyle. Kyle is a bit of a “worst case scenario” guy – but he’s definitely a product of a neglectful and abusive childhood. He’s so worried about losing things that he doesn’t concentrate on caring for keeping the good things he’s got. Even though he’s got friends at work and a boyfriend who really loves him, he just can’t help himself. His pity party got old quickly, so I was glad when Vince saved Christmas. Vince is a sweetheart who, though hurt by Kyle’s actions, really does love Kyle and wants him to be happy. He does literally everything he can to try to make Kyle feel cared for a safe, but it will take Kyle’s change in attitude to truly make it a merry Christmas. This is a cute and sexy short story with a merry Christmas indeed!
