Jason and Vale are back in this side story set in the Heat of Love universe!
A romantic getaway turns dramatic when an unexpected heat descends on Vale, leaving Jason with no choice but to act. The resulting pregnancy is dangerous for Vale and terrifying for Jason, but with the help of friends and family, they choose to embrace their uncertain future. Together they find all the love, joy, and heat they need to guide them through!
While this story follows the characters from Slow Heat, it will be most enjoyable if read directly after Alpha Heat, as it takes place contemporaneously with that book.
REVIEW:
Well, having read books 2 & 3, I was glad to see this. With reading those books, you know what already happens, but in this, you get all the little intimate details with Jason and Vale that you really didn’t get as much of in book 3, because the story was more about Caleb, Xen and Urho. With Urho being Vale’s doctor and ex and Xen and Jason’s history, too, of course they are all intertwined. But this is a kind of behind the scenes kind of thing and it’s really good. But it will bring some tears to your eyes too.
If you remember in Jason and Vale’s story, Vale had some issues that cause a lot of scar tissue to be built up around his womb and in it. Therefore, having a kid would basically kill him. So they decided, no kids. But when they get to Vale’s family home that had been renovated, an unexpected heat came upon him and he was screaming in pain from it. Jason tried to help in any way he could without actually penetrating him, because they only had meager supplies and they had to make due. But the meager supplies became no supplies and Jason couldn’t allow Vale to hurt anymore. He had to help his sweet omega. But he cried and felt guilty the whole time, because he knew what it could mean. And it happened. The unexpected pregnancy put fear into Jason down to his bones. As much as they wanted this baby, he needed Vale more. He couldn’t survive without him. He begs Vale to abort the baby for his heal, but after Urho said there’s a possibility he can carry full term, Vale put his foot down and they were having this baby. And now they had to get through this pregnancy, with Jason trying his damnedest to be the best alpha for his omega, while secretly screaming in fear for his love’s life.
Nothing like an at risk pregnancy to strengthen or weaken a relationship. Thankfully, for these two it strengthened them, but it didn’t mean it was easy. It didn’t come without a lot of tears and fighting and begging and pleading. But it also came with loving and caring, compassion and a bond so strong, they were determined nothing would break it or them. They were a family, one way or another.
This book also showed some more behind the scenes with Urho, Xen and Caleb. Not a lot as the focus is mainly on Jason and Vale. But when chaos reigns, it reigns hard and fast and everyone was in a panic and uproar and you got to see how everyone truly was with each other. You got to see more of the relationships in every way. Good, bad and ugly.
It’s a good in between. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing this part of Jason and Vale’s lives.
