The team sent to eliminate the last Anchor of Qos needs his help. Tavros falls ill after an accident, and if he doesn’t get help quickly he’s going to die. And the constant blizzards mean they are moving so slowly Valis is afraid they may be too late to save anyone.
With so much at stake—lives, family, his heart—one wrong move may cost Valis a price he’s not willing to pay.
His army needs him. His husband needs him more. Valis can’t afford to fail either. The race to save his family is on.
REVIEW:
OK, so I really, really love this series like you wouldn’t believe, but the cliffhangers are leaving me a tad miffed. And having NO idea when the next one is coming, is leaving me a bit on edge lol. I NEED the next book. I need to know Dare is ok and going to make it so it doesn’t destroy everyone and oh my gah. Book hangover.
Valis had more than proven himself time and time again with his actions and quick on the draw thinking. It has saved his life and the lives of those around him more than a time or two. But this book tests everything he thought he knew. In the first battle they get to, after he scryed and saw the village needed help, his boundaries are pushed to the limit. Until he retreats long enough to figure out what was happening and regroup. Once he did, they won the battle, but it still did a number. While on their way to another battle, after seeing his brothers and sisters dying horribly from a Qos high priest, they encounter another battle that tests Valis’s limits. But again, he thinks on the fly and is able to gain a victory. But these battles have not come without a cost. Tav almost died on him twice, and his father that he’s trying to rescue is getting worse. And now that they are on their way to find and rescue him, will they be able to find where he is and will they make it in time to save him?
You know, I love this series for so many reasons. One, it’s just that damn good and well written. Two, it’s a fantasyland that is amazing because I love all the gods and history and stuff. But most of all for me, I have loved seeing Valis grow from a scared, shy boy to a Grand Master in charge of hundreds of men and women. Men and women who have vowed to serve under him and help him whenever he needs it and no matter who they have to go against. I’ve watched him go from helpless to a very strong and powerful magician with very good fighting skills as well. He’s smart, can think on the fly, cares about his people first, especially his husband, and so much more. He has more than proven what a good man he is. And why people are willing to follow him because of it. It’s been a beautiful journey to watch. Not to say there haven’t been heartbreaking moments. Moments that we wish we could erase. But they’ve made him into the strong man he is and it’s pretty awesome.
If you guys haven’t read this series, you are missing out. Really missing out.
