Left all alone in the world—and in a very big house—after the loss of his parents, Kit Damien has struggled to find his place in society and in the kink community he longs to be a more active part of.
Daddy Doms Colt and Lucas have been a happy, committed couple for eight years. But two Tops need a bottom, and their quest for a Little to make their lives complete has led them to Kit’s empty doorstep.
But just as with his physical wounds, Kit’s emotional scars won’t heal overnight. Colt and Lucas must challenge him at every turn to force him to open up and let them in, to let them use their own individual methods to make him whole again. Together, the three will embark on a journey to learn about true love, growing up, the importance of sprinkles, and the rules of The Game that can make them all winners.
REVIEW:
This is the continuation of the previous book, Top Priority, where we met the two tops, Colt and Lucas. You’ll really want to start with their story, as they are the foundation of what grows in this installment. Here, they find the one they’ve been looking for to complete them, the “Little” for them to each care for and whom can be for each other what they can’t be themselves with them sharing the same Daddy Dom/Top preferences.
Kit is a bit of a wounded soul. He lost his parents and is still recovering with his scarring both inside and out. He has some major anxiety issues, but his parents had kept him rather sheltered to begin with, so now that he is on his own, he basically relies on two of the family employees – Rosa to feed him, and Vincent to drive him. Both have become more family than employees, but when Kit decides it is time to take the next step and agrees to see where things can go with Colt and Lucas, it takes some adjusting from all involved.
This story was much longer than the first, and it felt as though it moved really slowly. Granted, Kit needed to not be rushed, but I had some trouble keeping myself invested at times. There were also some issues I had with questionable behavior that bordered on rape/brutality in the name of healing, etc. that just didn’t sit right (even though Kit basically consented to it all). I also struggled with Colt and Lucas encouraging Kit to be more independent while, at the same time, wanting him to be totally reliant upon them as their “little.” That may just be my own issues with the Daddy/Little kink, but it took away from my overall enjoyment of the story. To that end, there are also a lot of terms of endearment – “dear, honey, etc.” from Lucas that just felt too forced almost as a way to distinguish him from Colt, who was the more macho and sadistic of the two.
However, if you are looking for a different type of Daddy kink to explore, this might be right up your alley. It was definitely a nice story of second chances, and I enjoyed seeing Kit come out of his shell and actually have more of a life. As always, Ms. Dee’s writing style was easy and comfortable, and she remains on my go-to author list.
