REVIEW:
So I’m crying big old crocodile tears of loss that this series is done. It is no secret that I love this author and this series in particular. In my opinion, the author has found the perfect way to end this beloved series.
I was thrilled the other day to get the book via email and immediately dropped re-reading a favorite book that I was in the middle of and dived right in. It was like coming home. I’ve read and reviewed each of the Whyborne & Griffin books and loved every single one of them. This final chapter was no exception.
Our story picks up almost immediately after the previous book ended. The guys are on their way back to Widdershins via ship and expect to be back the following day. But they receive the grim news that Widdersins has fallen and the evil Fideles and their servants have seized the population and done dire things to them.
Our heroes land just south of Boston and make their ways back to Widdershins, where they learn the worst is true. An evil Pharaoh has arisen within the museum where Whyborne and Christine work. In fact, it is a mummy that Christine brought back to Widdershins from one of her digs. Along with the Fideles who we has the displeasure of meeting in previous books, they’ve taken over the entire town and turned the residents into Perfected. A sort of living zombie.
I loved how this story continued to pick up the pace and it dragged me to the end of the book all in one sitting. I never put it down!
If you are a fan of Whyborne & Griffin, you will love this last installment. If you don’t know Whyborne & Griffin… it is high time you met them. Begin with book one and catch up. Run along… we’ll wait. You can thank me later.
I highly recommend the series and this final installment!
