BLURB: Relationships aren’t rocket science. If they were, I might stand a chance of figuring one out.
Elijah
Saying I’ve had a crush on my best friend’s older brother, Pax, most of my life is like saying the big bang was just an explosion. It’s true, but I’m not sure that quite captures the essence of its true enormity.
I know he’s only hanging out with me because I’m new in town and getting my PhD doesn’t leave me with much time to make friends. And even if it did, my strength is mathematics, not friend-making. What I don’t understand is why he kissed me… why he seems to want to keep kissing me. I don’t think my advanced physics knowledge is going to help me figure this one out. But I think for once I’m okay with not knowing, as long as Pax and I don’t know together.
Pax
He’s still the awkward nerdlet I remember…he’s also probably the cutest, most tempting man I’ve laid eyes on. I know I should keep my hands off him, but this thing between us is like a force of nature. I want to be his first everything. He says we’re nothing more than atoms crashing into each other. I’m no scientist but I don’t think either of us are braced for the explosion.
**** Rocket Science is a stand alone MM romance featuring an inexperienced nerd, a cocky player, and a satisfying HEA
REVIEW:
A nerdy little rocket scientist and his best friend’s player older brother…I couldn’t wait to get to read this story!
Elijah realized he was gay when he was gazing at his best friend Theo’s older brother when he was thirteen and Pax was home from college and mowing the lawn…shirtless! Now they are in the same town and chemistry is happening that isn’t totally scientifically explainable to the very naïve young man but what’s happening is good and he’s going to grab hold of what ever he can while it last!
What could be better than a totally inexperienced nerdlet and a total player. I loved watching this story unfold. I did feel that even as bright and educated a rocket scientist as Elijah was he was almost too quick a study when it came to finally with the program sexually wise. I kind felt that he came out a bit to polished for someone as sheltered, inexperienced and nerdy as he was. I could have used a little more bumbling and in need of the expertise of Pax could provide. But I loved their dynamic and inability to leave the other no matter the consequences of their interactions. And their texting was awesome! The one I felt bad for was Theo. He had been everything for Elijah for years and I truly believe that he hoped that Elijah would eventually open his eyes to what was right in front of him but, alas, it just wasn’t meant to be.
One of the things I loved about Elijah the most was, even though he was super smart, like a true rocket scientist smart, he never saw how cute he was or what a catch he would be. He was so naïve in this way that I loved it. And I loved that Pax saw through the nerdy little boy he saw before as his brother’s best friend to the man he could finally commit to and forge a lasting relationship with. I also loved that Elijah saw through the player Pax was to the smart and wonderful man that he had always had a crush on.
Although the blurb states that this is a stand alone I could totally see this becoming a series. The characters and supporting characters are well written and developed. I would love to get Bishop and Hudson’s story, I can already see that that one will be intriguing and I really want Theo to get someone special! He always had Elijah’s back and his heart has always had a special place for him too.
