Butterfly Wishes started as a short story for the Hot Summer Nights Anthology – a charity anthology that benefitted The Trevor Project. It was the first anthology I’d ever organised and I loved the experience! Working with all the amazing authors that took part was a privilege!
When I was planning what to write for the summer themed anthology, I started several projects, but none of them felt right. The deadline kept approaching and I still hadn’t made any progress on my story.
And then one day, I was watching something on TV, trying to muster enough determination to work on something that just didn’t feel right, when I heard something that sparked the idea for Butterfly Wishes.
Well, sparked isn’t a strong enough word. More like, set on fire and burned every other idea I’d had so far to cinders in seconds. I literally ran upstairs to my computer and started typing.
The story grew and grew, until it was too big for the anthology. The deadline was breathing down my neck, and yet I still couldn’t stop writing. I had to tell the story, the entire story, even if it meant cutting some of it to fit the anthology.
And so, I did. I wrote and wrote until I poured everything out. It was one of the best writing experiences of my life. It was so easy, and so enjoyable. Before I started Butterfly Wishes, I felt a little lost in my writing, bouncing between projects and never completing anything; writing because I had to, not because I wanted to.
But everything changed with King and Nico! These guys brought back the joy from writing into my life and I’m so grateful!
When the anthology’s sale period was over, I decided to add everything I’d cut back to the story and publish it as a stand-alone novella. So here it is! The gorgeous cover of Butterfly Wishes that catches the essence of King and Nico so well!
Butterfly Wishes will be released on 10 Oct 2019, but the preorder is up now!
Butterfly Wishes Description:
First love never works out.
Right?
In school, Nico and King are best friends, and each other’s first love. But their lives take a different path and they lose touch.
Now, ten years later, King is a famous musician and Nico is trying to make a name for himself as a journalist. When King’s life starts falling apart, fate brings them together on a private island, and reignites old feelings.
Can they make it work this time?
Or are their worlds too far apart?
