Biting is central to werewolf society, from discipline to lovemaking, but David is unable to tolerate this most important cultural sharing. When he falls for a wolf who longs to bite him, he must overcome his past or spend the rest of his life alone.
Liam is a werewolf with the ability to change his human guise. He’s always been able to fool others… until he meets David, who not only sees who he really is but how he truly feels. But Liam has a deep craving, something he continually confuses with rage, and this just might drive David away.
REVIEW:
I couldn’t imagine having to watch my parent die while trying to defend them. Especially being only a little guy. But this is David’s story. It’s a tough story. It deals with murder and nightmares. Basically PTSD. But it’s not a bad little story. I liked it.
David’s had nightmares about his father since it happened. He’s buried it so deep, he never talks about it. But because of it, fear of even being nipped or bitten, even by a mate, scares the shit out of him and causes a panic attack. Now since he’s been bitten by vamps, everybody is whispering behind his back or taunting him and he’s had all he can take. It doesn’t help when confronted he blacks out from panic attacks and doesn’t realize what he’s done. His only saving grace is Liam. A wolf with special fae abilities that David can see right through. The problem, though, is Liam is an alpha wolf himself and he wants to kill anyone that hurts David. He fixes one problem and is on his way to fix another when David stops him and tells the truth of his past. But because of all of this David may have to leave school and then find a pack that will protect and cherish him. And that may mean leaving Liam as well.
David’s had a rough as hell life. He has broken my heart at every turn because he just can’t catch a break. He’s targeted all the time or picked on and it’s so no right or fair. I was happy when he finally started making breakthroughs with his therapist and when he met Liam. Even though it’s taken time to do certain things or to fully trust, some innate part of David has known he can trust Liam and be ok. And it’s allowed him to relax and even laugh. To be able to be himself. Now if he can just keep Liam’s temper under control. But part of that is just because he’s a protector. He’s a natural reaction. But he’s doing good to control it. Most of the time anyway lol.
These two have been through a lot but their faith and trust in each other is helping them to overcome. Along with a lot of therapy.
