Childhood Sweethearts, first love!
They were childhood friends, best friends, aspiring football players, and then boyfriends. Events happened and they found themselves in different parts of the world, without each other! First love and doing a lot of first with each other, that can bind you together, forever!
They say “First love never dies.”, “You never forget your first love.”, and I think most of the time it is true! Growing up together, being there for each other in every facet of your childhood life, and learning about each other through all these times. These are things that are hard to forget. But life sometimes make decisions for you and all you can do is go with it. Separated in their teens, being young and unsure of anything, they went on with their lives as best as they can.
Pursuing a football career or any career for that matter sometimes take precedence over everything else, you have to stay focused so that that elusive dream will be achievable. Sometimes you have to make sacrifices and prioritize. Sometimes it involves letting go of someone you deeply care about.
In sports, like football, there are not a lot of “out” LGBTQ+ personalities, so there is the stigma that maybe it will be received negatively, so sometimes remaining in the closet is the only option open. This tale deals with this subject matter but also the turmoil and insecurities that even top talented sports athletes think of. Charlie Novak was able to show us how some people cope with this particular dilemma. How sometimes they make the mistake of deciding one thing and seeing no other option available to them. That although our world has already been accepting, there are still those who believe otherwise. It deals with hopes and dreams and makes you think of what the most important things are in your life! And sometimes plans and dreams can change halfway through your life. We grow and become older and our perspectives change. A lovely story of love between two people who were meant to be!
