Welcome to Twirled World Ink where the crazies run the asylum.
Gene Sheridan earned the appropriate nickname when Legend Gib Phelps employed him at Twirled World Ink—Scary. No one made it out of his old neighborhood without scars both mental and physical. At one time, Scary thought he had a chance that is until his ex-boyfriend discovered slumming with someone like him wasn’t worth his trust fund. No-strings hookups became his go-to when he needed to relieve some tension. Co-owning a bar called Brawlers with his best friend, Tank, made it easy to find a body to use for the night. If not happy he was content with his life, but one man made content seem like such a terrible thing.
Elijah Vaughn worried about everything. His life was put on hold at eighteen when his mostly-absent parents died on one of their many adventures leaving him to raise his six-year-old brother, Brody. He’d never had anything or anyone that was just his. When Brody met a tattoo artist named Trouble, Elijah hadn’t realized how much it would change his life too. He met a huge man named Scary and how the man made him feel terrified him.
Tank Davis lost his voice the night he was attacked and had this throat slit ear-to-ear. It kept him in a world of silence. Silent and intimidating, he scared off more men than he drew to him. His best friend Scary and him made a life for themselves in small town Georgia with their bar Brawlers. Most night everyone could find him working security at the door. Scary called in a favor, and Tank met the one man he couldn’t resist, proper and upstanding Elijah Vaughn.
Can one man accept that there’s not one perfect man for him, but two damaged souls who need him to be whole?
Author’s Note: Although this is part of a series each book is stand alone and every book deals with a separate couple.
REVIEW:
Gah, this series get better with EVERY damn book! I was so waiting to see who the man would be that tamed Scary and who would be the one to show Tank he was still beautiful, scars and all, and I shouldn’t have been, but was definitely shocked to see it be none other than the town’s very shy and virginal mayor. And he got them both.
When Scary laid eyes on Brody’s brother Elijah, he knew he wanted him with a passion. And Elijah was now the focus of Scary’s spank bank. But he tried to blow it off acting as he normally did. Like an asshole. Until everyone jumped his ass and made him realize how bad he was being. But old insecurities pop up even with the toughest of men. But what shocked Scary even more was the first time Elijah laid eyes on Tank. The chemistry was electric right off the bat and Tank was doing a double take himself, trying not to drool. It was then and there Scary knew that Elijah was going to be his and Tank’s. They worked it out between them, in their way. But when things started changing, as in Elijah’s new job, and a possibility of adoption, Scary started noticing feelings he had buried for a while we’re cropping up. And it took Elijah being kidnapped by the man who tried to kill Tank, to put things into perspective. They let Tank sulk for a bit but he needed to know who he belonged to and Scary wasn’t holding back anymore. Neither was Elijah. Now if they can all get past their brokenness and insecurities, they may finally get to have what they’ve all dreamed of. Someone to love and love them.
Elijah broke my heart in the last book as well as this one. When Brody started dating Trouble, he felt out of place. Like he didn’t belong. He’s felt that way for a long time but with his own brother it bothered him. Especially when his own niece seemed to love her new uncles more than him. And being attracted to Scary, when the man seemed to do nothing but hate him, made it even worse. And now he was attracted to Tank as well as Scary. He was so confused and torn up, he wasn’t sure what to do. It took Tank stepping in and basically claiming him to move things along. And Scary jumped right in. They were all what each other needed. Elijah touched Tank’s soul every time he touched his scars. He made him feel whole and not broken. With Scary’s surly attitude and his own past, Elijah filled a hole he didn’t even know he had. And both men showed Elijah he was perfect in every way for them. He didn’t treat them like they were lower than dirt because of the tats or the bar and bikes and such. He loved every single inch of both of them.
It’s a rough story in the sense that there is a lot of bad in their pasts. Well one major incident really. But because of it and how they were treated with being gay and growing up where they did, Scary and Tank become rough men. That didn’t mean they were unlovable. It just meant it took someone special to see past the bluster to the hearts of them. And that’s what they got.
