Blog Tour incl Guestpost & Giveaway: Amara Lynn – Into The Deep

I’m so excited for this book to be out in the world, and for the story I’ve had in my heart for ten years to finally be in the hands of other people. That’s right, ten years.

Ten years ago, I was a reader and enjoyed writing, but I lacked the direction, drive, and writing knowledge I do now. The idea for Into the Deep first came about from a prompt for a story contest: language barriers.

One of the most loved things from my younger years was pirates. The first Pirates of the Carribean film came out when I was fourteen and I saw that thing at least three times in theaters. It was awesome. It was everything. And I’ve been a pirate freak ever since.

So, between the prompt language barriers and my love of pirates, the idea of a pirate and a merman falling in love was born. If it weren’t obvious by the blurb, the main character Lamark is heavily inspired by Jack Sparrow. He’s clumsy, he keeps losing his hat, and he’s always got tuff chasing after him. The main difference between Jack and Lamark, though, is that Jack, in my opinion, plays the clumsy, bad pirate at times, while Lamark really is just a complete klutz!

Over the years I’ve prodded and poked at this story, never really getting anywhere, though several other things influenced it and made it was it is today. Another one of those things is the classic tale Treasure Island. If you haven’t read it, I highly recommend it as a must read classic for your list!Treasure Island was groundbreaking at the time it was originally released. It basically gave us all the pirate tropes that are now staples of anything with pirates. “X” marks the spot, talking parrot companion, Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything. You name a pirate trope, and it probably came from Treasure Island.

Most of these tropes made their way into Into the Deep, some of the subverted in strange and silly ways. I hope you’ll have fun trying to spot them!

The most fun thing about writing this book was working in various pirate tropes with my own take, as well as various Easter eggs from my friends and other favorites of mine like the POTC films.

I hope you’ll enjoy this wild ride of a book. It’s got everything: adventure, treasure hunting, fantasy, magic, and gay romance! It’s the complete package!

Luck has never been on Lamark’s side.

After his father’s untimely death, the new captain casts Lamark off the ship, leaving him in a dinghy in the middle of the ocean. Lamark is sure his life is over.

In a stroke of luck, Lamark encounters a merman, who saves him from drowning and brings him to a deserted island. Lamark quickly learns that on this mysterious island, not everything is as it seems, and danger lurks in every nook. This island may very well be the death of him.

Adventure, romance, and maybe some swashbuckling await Lamark, so long as he’s not too lily-livered to venture into the deep…

Into the Deep is a 45k pirate fantasy adventure novel with a heavy helping of slapstick comedy and a sweet, steamy m/m romance.

Amara Lynn has always been a quiet daydreamer. Coming up with characters and worlds since childhood, Amara eventually found an outlet in writing. Amara loves anything to do with pirates, villains and superheroes, and angels and demons.

Amara is addicted to music and gets the most inspiration from moving songs and lyrics. When not writing, Amara usually reads, listens to podcasts, watches anime, plays a video game here and there (but mostly collects them), and takes way too many cat pictures.

Amara is non-binary/enby and queer and uses they/them pronouns.
