Welcome Allison 🙂
Book Synopsis:
As Seacroft’s resident weirdo, Avery proudly flies a lot of freak flags. It’s a constant battle to be taken seriously when everything, from his red hair to his sexuality, makes him stand out in this small town.
Small towns are also a terrible place to keep secrets, and Lincoln has a bunch of them. But his demons aren’t going to hold him back from his dream job at the Seacroft Fire Department. His life is finally coming together, until the red-haired twink with the big smile and fast mouth calls in an emergency.
Pining for the hot firefighter is Avery’s newest flag, even if he agrees to be “just friends.” For Linc, every minute with Avery is a temptation. He needs to let go of his fear and admit the truth. Linc doesn’t want to be Avery’s friend; he wants to be his everything. But just as Linc is ready to risk it all, Avery gets an unexpected offer to spread his colorful wings and fly away.
Hot Potato is an 80k slow burn friends-to-lovers contemporary MM romance. It features a fast-talking accountant who’s cooler than he thinks, the closeted firefighter who loves him more than he should, and a great big happy-sigh HEA.

Avery knew he was gay the minute Jeff Goldblum showed up in Jurassic Park. Sprawled out like Cleopatra, shirt unbuttoned as he smoldered from behind his glasses. His smile said he knew all kind of things Avery didn’t. In fact, he was basically everything Avery wasn’t: smart, in charge of his sexuality, and confident with who he was in every way that mattered.
Every time he watched the movie over the years, while everyone else was shrieking about the T-Rex and the velociraptors, Avery was waiting impatiently for the next time Dr. Ian Malcolm appeared on the screen.
That Jeff had spent the ensuing years growing into a sophisticated silver fox only fueled Avery’s fantasies. And then, one night—or actually, at four o’clock on a Sunday morning, after an all-night Winterlands session—Avery saw the novelty shower curtain—the one with Dr. Ian Malcolm spread out like a god—for sale online. He had to have it. Avery one-clicked that sonofabitch so hard his desk creaked.
The box showed up promptly the next day—thank you, Amazon Prime—and Avery had Jeff hung in the bathroom before the sun had set.
The sight of him, shirt unbuttoned, forearm resting on his knees, was glorious. Avery could hardly keep himself from staring.
And sure, Avery had read his fair share of Thor/Grand Master fan fiction, but this wasn’t like that. This was design. A statement piece in Avery’s poorly lit bathroom, just to give it a little flair.
Looking back, he should have given Linc a head’s up about the flair.
“Be back in a sec.” Linc pushed up from the newly assembled couch, and Avery was just so damn pleased with how well the afternoon had gone that he didn’t even think to mention his decorative choices until Linc’s yelp echoed from the bathroom.
“Holy shit!”
“What?” Avery stumbled up the hall. Linc stood in the doorway to the bathroom, hands on the frame, shoulders up to his ears. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.” The tips of Linc’s ears were pink. He pointed at Jeff. “Just a surprise, that’s all. You should have told me you have company.”
Avery’s face flamed. “Oh.” He tried to cool his cheeks with his palms. “Oh my God.”
“I—I’ve never seen one like that,” Linc said with a smile.
Allison Temple has been a writer since the second grade, when she wrote a short story about a girl and her horse. Her grandmother typed it out for her and said she’s never seen so many quotation marks from a seven-year-old before. Allison took that as a challenge and has gone on to try to break her previous record in all her subsequent works.
Allison lives in Toronto with her very patient husband and the world’s neediest cat. She splits her free time between writing, community theater stage management, and traveling anywhere that has good wine. Tragically, this leaves no time to clean her house.
