Haven Hart stands on the edge of good and evil. Having balance between the two is the only thing keeping the town from crumbling to the ground. For years, one man has been charged with maintaining that balance. Poe.
The air of mystery surrounding Poe is one of necessity. He’s the keeper of secrets and for good reason. He’s stood alone against the most ruthless men and women, always hiding behind the curtain to help his friends defeat what seeks to destroy them.
Now, after all this time, the city he loves, the people he has protected, and the secrets he’s kept hidden are in serious jeopardy. Poe will need the help of his friends to fight the ultimate battle; not just save Haven Hart but everything and everyone he holds dear to him.
When the dust settles, will betrayals be forgiven? Will the city still be standing? Will Poe’s beloved be at his side or will everything crumble? One thing is for certain, everything will be tested, and questions will finally be answered. Raven’s Hart is the final installment in the Haven Hart Series.
REVIEW:
This is the last book in the Haven Hart series, and in my opinion, the best. Poe has always been my favourite character and the air of mystery that surrounds him is only part of the appeal. Anyone who knows me knows that I love long haired men, especially artists, those with disabilities, quirks, eccentricities or other challenges. Poe ticks all the boxes.
In this final installment, the veil is lifted and the mystery surrounding Poe is explained. Secrets are brought into the light, age old feuds and promises, and at long last Poe’s love interest is revealed. Not quite what I expected but wow!
Old favourites like crime boss, Christopher Manos and his husband, Snow, assassin, Black and his boyfriend, Quinn, and secondary characters like Bill, Mace, Lee, Jones, Ginger, Riorden—and Teddy, who has no category to fill other than absolutely adorable.
As with all the others, this book is not perfect, but like the ones before it, it highlights the author’s growth. Some of the same issues remain with grammar, sentence construction and dialogue, but on the whole they are minor and overall the quality of writing is high. The overarching story that has been building through the entire series was brought to a satisfying end and most, if not all the loose ends were tied up.
For me, the epilogue wasn’t necessary and it served nothing other than to wrap everyone life up in a neat package with a bow, which is not what this series has been about, in my opinion. The entire series has been about growth—the stories, the characters and the author and I found the epilogue over sweet and a little too “cute”. That being said, a two page epilogue is a very small detail in a very long series and does not detract from an excellent book.
If you’ve read all the books and enjoyed the journey as much as I have this book is an absolute must-have, and if not, why not. Go buy them immediately and don’t read this one until you’ve read them all.
Raven’s Hart was my kind of book with everything from comedy to adventure to downright heartbreaking sadness, and of course some seriously hot men. The situations feel real, the danger builds and menace is a solid presence. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed in how the series ends and will be very glad to know the author hasn’t finished with Haven Hart yet, although this particular cast of characters is retiring for good.
