Jesse volunteers to search for the missing component in the realm of the fae, but his boyfriend, Sean, isn’t letting him go alone. The town has an enemy among the fae, so they’ll need to keep a low profile. Along their way, they find unexpected allies, surprising enemies, and a whole host of problems.
The journey is a test of their endurance, but also of their relationship and their faith in each other. Can they find what they need and get back home in one piece in time for the summer solstice?
REVIEW:
This has been one of the most incredible series I’ve read. I absolutely love every book of the series. Each book has led up to something good and bad, the characters are amazing in their own way and it’s just been really great to see them all grow since book one. They have been through hell and back and know they have another battle to face, but they are becoming more confident in their abilities and in themselves.
But this time, it’s Jesse’s turn to make the journey. Devon fixed the last incident and in this one, the need to travel to Fairie. With Devon being half Fae, they have no idea how he would react if he went there. So Jesse stepped up. And of course, where Jesse goes, Sean goes. Even when Jesse is adamant in saying no. Sean isn’t listening. He knows Jesse needs someone to cover his back and everyone else either can’t go or are needed here at home as an anchor. But it’s not just the journey to Fairie that’s the problem. Devon’s mother came back and had to face the reality of what she is and has done. And someone tried to set his grandmother on fire and kill her. She lost her home but thankfully she was saved, along with her husband. And in that Devon’s abilities show up again. But now it’s time to set the wards. They are tired of bad people getting in. And even though the Fae King can enter, maybe it will stop others from helping him. But fae magic is working against them as well as a unicorn trying to kill them. Until they make their wishes known. As they finally get what they came for and help the unicorn and fish, they realize time has ran out and the bush they thought was the way out, isn’t. And they’re stuck.
I tell you, these guys have been through a hell of a lot. Being new to the council, they’ve had some stuff dropped in their laps that is unbelievable. Nothing like this has happened in Rowan Harbor for years, if ever. And what’s amazing is they are all coming into their Powers and realizing how valuable they really are. Everyone of them. Each has something different they bring to the table and it’s been so interesting to see how it all intertwines. It’s also been amazing to see the bonds of these relationships grow to be what they are today. They realize they can’t be without each other and would sacrifice all for the other. But the most amazing of it all, has been the way they’ve interwoven their abilities to protect this town. Even when they doubt themselves. And they do a lot. They’re still babies, really. But they’ve done it. They may have lost a few in battle, but they’ve joined together as a tight knit community and family.
I can’t wait for book 9. I want to see how Fletcher handles himself. He’s grown the most I think. With Oak for help. And now it’s his turn to shine again.
