Hello, it’s great to be here! My new book, Gentleman Wolf, is a historical romance with werewolves, set in Edinburgh in 1788.
It is also a book about a dandy, a fop, a fribble—my main character, Lindsay Somerville loves to dress up! Lindsay is a man of fashion with a love for high heels, powder and patch and alarmingly colourful clothes. This is the book description of what he is wearing on the cover of the book:
“His coat was a pink-and-ivory striped affair—very bold, particularly when teamed with the Nile green satin breeches. Clocked stockings of pale pink silk, intricately embroidered with a pattern of twisting leaves, graced his well-shaped calves, and his silver-buckled shoes had fashionably high heels that clacked on the cobbles as he walked.
His face was made up with powder, patches and rouge. One black velvet dot rested just above his upper lip while another graced the opposite cheek, an inch or so below the outer corner of his right eye. The powder he wore was very white, the rouge on his lips and cheeks a deep rose, and several glittering rings winked on his slim fingers. As for his coiffure, well, Wynne had outdone himself, transforming Lindsay’s straight black hair into a stiff cloud of curls and rolls.”
I had a lot of fun browsing the internet for inspiration for Lindsay’s outfits. Here’s a few of my favourites:*That* coat:
A rather magnificent dragon dressing-gown Lindsay eats breakfast in:
A gold silk embroidered waistcoat he dons when he’s trying to be more restrained:
And, of course, his very favourite red heeled shoes:

An elegant werewolf in Edinburgh…
1788. When Lindsay Somerville, the most elegant werewolf in Paris, learns that the man who held him in abject captivity for decades is on his way to France, intent on recapturing him, he knows he must leave the Continent for his own safety. Lindsay cannot take the risk of being recaptured—he may have been free for a century but he can still feel the ghost of his old chains under his fine clothes.
… on a mission…
While he’s in Edinburgh, Lindsay has been tasked with acquiring the “Naismith Papers”, the writings of a long-dead witchfinder. It should be a straightforward mission—all Lindsay has to do is charm an elderly book collector, Hector Cruikshank. But Cruikshank may not be all he seems, and there are others who want the papers.
… meets his match
As if that were not enough, while tracking down the Naismith Papers, Lindsay meets stubborn architect Drew Nicol. Although the attraction between them is intense, Nicol seems frustratingly determined to resist Lindsay’s advances. Somehow though, Lindsay can’t seem to accept Nicol’s rejection. Is he just moonstruck, or is Nicol bonded to him in ways he doesn’t yet understand?
Note: this is the first book of a duology – the story continues and will complete in the second book, Master Wolf.
Joanna Chambers always wanted to write. She spent over 20 years staring at blank sheets of paper and despairing of ever writing a single word. In between staring at blank sheets of paper, she studied law, met her husband and had two children. Whilst nursing her first child, she rediscovered her love of romance and found her muse. Joanna lives in Scotland with her family and finds time to write by eschewing sleep and popular culture.
I’m always excited to see Joanna has another new series. I absolutely adore her writing!
