Things have been busy on the writing front lately! I’ve received the rights back from the publisher to a number of my books and my focus is on getting them back out to readers asap. Some books don’t need much more than tweaking, others are getting a whole overhaul. The amount of work is daunting but it’s also interesting and a lot of fun. I’m revisiting characters I haven’t spent much time with in a while. One of the first series that’s getting re-released, is the Heroes series. God, I’m enjoying getting back into this series. 😊
According to the Oxford Dictionary, “a hero is a person, typically a man, who is admired for their courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.”
The first book of the series, Charlie’s Hero, does feature this type of traditional hero. Josh Campbell is a paramedic so works in an occupation where he rescues people and saves lives. These First Responder jobs – firefighters, police, EMT, military, bodyguards – are the sort of roles we would usually associate with hero.
My “Heroes” series features a number of different types of heroes, men who I think of as heroes because of their actions, and because of the type of people they are. My heroes aren’t necessarily out saving the world, but they’re heroes in the eyes of those who love them.
Yes, Josh is a hero because he saves lives, but there is a lot more than Josh than a brave man who makes saving lives his career. Josh is a hero in many more ways. His actions, small and large, reflect his caring nature and inbuilt desire to help others. Josh is a hero because he puts others first—whether it be providing advice and support to friends, rallying the troops to help someone in a crisis, or bolstering someone’s spirits. Josh is Charlie’s hero because he does all these things, but most importantly shows Charlie that he is loved and part of a family.
And now that I have the rights back to all the books in the series, I’ve got another two planned – another four heroes for you to meet!
Happy reading,
Nic
P.S. Keep an eye out for Charlie’s Hero and Andrew’s Promise in the next month.
