Blade: As the lead singer of Hard Core, I’ve been taught several key life lessons. Unfortunately, I’ve also ignored many of them in the last twenty minutes alone, which is why I’m now being chased by a hoard of crazed fans.
But my worst misjudgment today? Going outside in public without security or a backup plan. Screaming fans come with the job and the fame is as much of a blessing as it is a curse, but I still couldn’t imagine doing any other line of work.
Music owns me and I am happy to be her bitch.
Nico: I knew who he was as soon as he burst through the front door of my store and I was absolutely starstruck and speechless. Yes, me with my own hardened attitude and jaded outlook on life had lost the ability to talk in the presence of Blade.
I’m an ex-con. I paid my debt to society, and I have my own brand of scars to show from the time I spent behind bars. My life’s regrets stain my soul as much as the ink of my tattoos color my skin. Solace for me came with ownership of a bookstore. It was a peaceful place to work until a certain rockstar blew in from the street like a Category 5 hurricane.
Hurricane Blade was about to make landfall and I wasn’t sure I’d survive the storm.
REVIEW:
I love Ann Lister and her gorgeous and talented Rock Gods and now I get more 💗
Blade is the lead singer of the enormously famous Hard Core. He is exactly what you would expect from a millionaire Rock Star. He can throw a tantrum one minute, because his band mates are screwing up what he visualizes when he wrote a new song, and make the colossal mistake of taking off for a breathe of fresh air with out Ram, his giant body guard, and winds up running for his life from rabid fans. But was it such a horrible mistake when he winds up running into the old book store Book Ends and into the gorgeous store clerk Nico Salvatore?
Slade and Nico are just who I needed to start this new series out. They both thought that love and relationship was out of their reach or even in there vision. But that’s what’s so wonderful about love…it hits you so hard in the heart before you could see it coming. Many people don’t believe in love-at-first-sight but I do. I know it happened with my parents…at least my dad, and with my son and his wife too! It happens and there’s nothing that can stop the inevitable when it hits. I know that Slade never gave thought to it until he laid eyes on Nico but that’s exactly what he got. Gone in a flash was his one and done with random guys. Poor Nico had made some really bad choices when he young and started hanging with the wrong crowd. I think he can’t see what a catch he could possibly be for a megastar like Slade. But Slade sees the sweet, wonderful man that has made something of himself after falling down the dark hole of drugs and jail. The one person we never got to meet, because he had died long before this story, was Nico’s dad. I have huge respect for him and how he helped Nico change his life around to the good. He was a true parent in every sense of the word. I believe he would have approved of Nico and Slade’s love and appreciated that Slade finally got Nico to live again.
I LOVED THIS BOOK! Not only do I get to know a new one of Ann’s famous rock groups, which is a huge plus, but I get to see my guys from Ivory Tower and Black Ice. It was good to see Alex and his husband Chase. I was devastated when their wife was killed and have been wondering how they were holding up. I know Chase and their daughters are the glue holding Alex together and that he is out touring again is a good sign the time with Dr. Collins helped. I can’t wait for the rest of this series. I hope we get more of Slade and Nico’s romance, as we have with previous series Ann has written, but I’m pretty sure that Branson is up next. I see a sexy fire lieutenant in his future. I can’t wait!
