Cullen Burke lived his life to the fullest. When doctors said he’d never walk again after an accident, Cullen proved them wrong by not only walking but learning to rock climb. Now, he wanted to find that man he could love for the rest of his life. It only took one look for Cullen and Burke to fall head over heels in love. If only Zack’s insecurities didn’t keep getting in the way, they could find their happily ever after.
Maybe what Zack needed was an adventure.
REVIEW:
Reading books like these sometimes, makes me remember why I dislike a lot of people. Even though this is fictional, the way some parents treat their children just piss me off so bad, it’s not even funny. This one deals with a bit of verbal and emotional abuse suffered at the hands of a mother..or so called one. But if the way, Zack is treated at all is a trigger for you, take care please.
Zack is at a job he hates, and still stuck at home with his mother. The way she’s treated him all his life, he’s always felt worthless and like she didn’t want him. So she’s basically just used him as a doormat. Now his boss is. After 5 years of working there, his boss wants him to do something morally wrong and illegal and Zack can’t do it. He even tells his boss he can’t. He’s threatened with either doing it or being fired. So the next day, he calls into work and goes to a Bigfoot museum as his way of rebellion and tasting freedom for a moment, when who comes in and blows his mind? Yep. None other than Jesse. Lol. Him and Bigfoot. He completely blows Zack over talking to him and including him and then giving him his number to hire him for whatever. Zack still can’t believe it. When a week later, Jesse calls him up to for real offer him a job, he decides it’s time to pack up and go. He writes a resignation letter, leaves it on his desk and walks away. At home, his mother chews him out over it and tells him to go back, but Zack finally stands up and says no. And now he’s homeless.
He has to find Jesse and see if there is something he can do so he has money and a place to stay til he gets on his feet, when he runs into the most beautiful man he’s ever seen. Built and gorgeous, he’s way out of Zack’s league. But Cullen doesn’t think so and he’s going to prove Zack is right up his alley and hopefully soon, his. And of course, Jesse can’t help but help in his own way. When Zack starts getting into doing the accounts for Jesse, he realizes some things are off. But when he finds out why, he has a whole new respect for the man. Especially with the current mayor trying to detail him, even with false info. Everything seems to be going in a whirlwind and Zack is trying to catch up. And hopefully he can get Cullen on the same page, because right now……they aren’t even in the same book.
Zack is another one of those babies I just want to wrap up and squish with love. Yeah, he’s 28 but I’m a mom and can’t help it. He’s so sweet and innocent, shy and quiet. But he wants so much to fit in. And Jesse being Jesse, brings him right into the fold. No holds barred. He and Cullen either one, don’t quite know what to do with Jesse, but after seeing him work, especially with helping Cullen get his business license, they now know there’s a crap load kore to Jesse than some people realize. But he comes across so femme and flighty and all…insane at times that he throws people off. But it’s all a part of his charm lol.
This book is getting deeper into things. The current mayor is going a little too far with things in order to stop Jesse and run the gays out of town. It’s getting bad, but one thing that is holding steady, is the sense of family and community that Jesse and all the friends he’s made have done. It’s home to so many. And it feels like home. There’s a sense of hope where there wasn’t one. There’s love floating around everywhere and chance to start anew. Cullen got a new start with his business and with Zack. Zack got a new start in life period and someone who loves him for him. No matter what.
It’s almost the end of the series. The tension is rising and I can’t wait to see what happens next. Especially with a little snippet Jesse let slip in a meeting with the mayor. Lol uh oh.
