BLURB:
Brantley Phipps doesn’t need a boyfriend. In his line of work, relationships are impossible. All he wants is one night of fun before he starts his three-month rotation as Assistant Hotel Director on a cruise ship.
He scores the jackpot with a hot older guy who hits all his yes, please buttons and who wants the same thing as him. Talk about a night to remember. That should last him a while…
Until he discovers that his one-night stand is none other than the legendary Captain Silver Fox aka his boss for the next three months. Oops.
Still, it shouldn’t be an issue because Brantley doesn’t do coworkers and Fox is known for being strict as hell about not dating employees. That should make things easy, if not for that pesky attraction that keeps flaring up whenever they’re in the same room.
It’s gonna be a long three months…
Shipping the Captain has an age gap, yummy steamy scenes, a Caribbean setting, and a summer fling that turns into an embarrassing case of falling for the boss. It’s the sixth book in the Valentine’s Inc. Cruises series but can be read as a complete standalone. The only connection in the series is the shared premise of the Valentine’s Inc. cruise.
REVIEW:
A one night stand that turns into something more, but what do they do when one is the boss and the other is his employee and they aren’t supposed to mix?
Fox is one of the youngest Captains to pilot a cruise ship and he’s damn proud of it. He’s been on the sea since he was a kid in the Netherlands. His father being a captain himself. His life was the sea. But sometimes the weeks aboard took a toll. So when it was time to be off, it was time to hook up. He was the boss, so he couldn’t on the ship. He’s been looking around the bar and found a few that interested him, but one in particular. And when they had to help a patron who had a heart attack, they decided after to pounce on the chemistry they were both feeling. Both gave fake names and had the night of nights to remember. Neither would forget the other ever. It was the best night they ever had. At least until the met again on the ship and Fox found out his one night stand was one of his employees, hotel assistant director Brantley. And the pull was just as strong. They fought as hard as they could. They even tried to be just friends but it was killing them both. But Brantley had to keep his head about him. He didn’t want his heart broken. But too late. He was falling. He didn’t know Fox was as well. They ended up succumbing to their chemistry, acknowledging they were more when they had to make an emergency trip to the Netherlands. But going back to the ship was going to be a problem because of the rules. Would they be able to stay together or would one have to quit even though neither wanted to or would ask that of the other?
I felt so bad for these two. It’s rare to find such a connection in so many different levels and when you find it, you don’t want to let it go. Especially when in the bedroom it’s electrifying. Not having known who the other truly was, it would have been hard to leave each other behind but they did. And remeeting in the ship….talk about awkward. And magnetic. The pull was still there but they both had to be professional. Man, I don’t know if I could have done it. I’d want to be climbing them like a tree lol. And Brantley wanted to lol. Well Fox did too. He was vers as well so he loved to take as much as give and when they did that night it was the best ever. So yeah, I felt for them. Knowing both of their careers could be on the line, especially when both had worked so hard to be where they are.
Definitely angsty. But so good. The chemistry, the intimacy. It’s a good love story. The push and pull. I really enjoyed it.
