BLURB:
Alpha Gaven Freel was taught by his doting beta parents to protect and respect omegas, and he sees those parents as shining examples of how to love his future mate. Except he’s only nineteen and still a university student, so Gaven has plenty of time to find his omega bondmate—but fate has other plans, and he scents his omega from across a crowded waiting room. Too bad his bondmate is the son of his parents’ oldest enemy.
At twenty-two, omega Frey Porter has already gone through multiple heats without an alpha. He’s desperate to find a mate, but his sire Monte Porter won’t settle for just any alpha for his only omega son. Frey will one day access a sizable trust fund—no gold diggers allowed into the wealthy Porter family. When Frey insists younger alpha Gaven Freel is his bondmate, Monte is skeptical about the pairing. And Gaven’s parents are skeptical right back, worried Monte might use the situation to punish Gaven for decades-old hurts.
Monte surprises everyone by negotiating a fair financial agreement that limits Gaven’s access to Frey’s trust fund and by allowing them to mate. Gaven has no interest in money, only in being the best alpha possible to Frey, and with Frey’s next heat months away, they have plenty of time to date and get to know each other. Frey is intimidated by Gaven’s huge extended family, but he also adores their camaraderie and genuine love for each other. Frey wants his future to be with the Freels.
Gaven is busy making plans for their life together when the unthinkable happens—Monte serves Gaven with papers dissolving the mating agreement. Papers Frey signed, too, and stands by. Devastated by losing his bondmate, Gaven sinks into a deep depression even his best friends can’t get him out of. But Frey also has a terrible, life-altering secret he’s keeping from Gaven, and he’ll have to learn to trust in the strength of the mating bond in order to save them both from darkness.
SAVE ME is the first book in the brand-new “Finding Free” omegaverse series, which is a spin-off of the fan-favorite “Breaking Free” series. This is an original universe featuring mpreg, A/B/O dynamics, heats, knotting and an alpha-dominated society that is starting to see advances in omega rights. Content warnings for dark themes apply. See interior blurb for additional warning.
REVIEW:
The interior blurb refers to rape and old wounds. There is also some other stuff, but I don’t want to give anything away, so just be careful. If you’ve read the Breaking Free series, be ready. Has some of the same dark tones. And if you haven’t read the series, I STRONGLY recommend you do so first or you will be REALLY lost.
Oh my gah. To A.M. Arthur, first and foremost, thank you, thank you. When I read the end of the Breaking Free series, I was so sad. Cried even. I grew with these characters. Watched them change, have babies, heal wounds and learn to trust again. Find their mates and find their purpose in life. Knowing that was going to be over broke me. But when I found out about this series, I was delighted. Ecstatic. I wasn’t sure how everyone would play into it, but hell, I was going to be happy with just one book if that’s all I got. As long as I got to see all these guys again. But, 15-20 years have past. Somewhere in there. And all the babies are pretty much grown and leading lives of their own. Or starting to. There have been some changes to the old crew that sadden me, but you’ll have to read to find out. They’re all still there right now but things are changing after so many years.
This story is about Gaven, Serge and Dex’s son. He’s a college boy. Just finished his first year. The kids all still hang together. It’s in different ways now that things are changing, but they are all still family and friends and hang out often. He’s at odds with his BFF Rei, Braun and Tarek’s son, but over something stupid. An Omega. When Gaven has to go to an event for clinics opening under his namesakes name, he’s just talking and socializing until he smells the most delicious smell ever. His bondmate. The problem is who it is. Frey Porter. Not that there’s anything wrong with Frey, but if you read the Breaking Free series, you will remember his sire Monte, was a bit of a dick and tried to hurt Serge. But Dex and Serge are willing to let it all drop for Gaven’s happiness, if Monte will. Monte agrees to the bondmate with stipulations but they aren’t bad. Frey and Gaven get to know each other more, until one weekend when Gaven and the rest of the ‘kids’ take a camping trip. And something happens to Frey. When Monte finds out, he swears he will get justice for his son. Because of how it has made Frey feel, he makes Monte fill out paperwork breaking off the bond with Gaven and everything with it. Gaven is destroyed and doesn’t understand why. He tries over and over to find out why but no one will tell him anything. Until Rei is hospitalized for an injury. Gaven sends Frey one last message telling him of Rei and then it’s over for Gaven. But Frey turns up, Monte has been shot, the secret has been found out by a gossip rag, and now Frey is kidnapped. Gaven just got Frey back for just a minute, will he lose him again? Forever this time? And how will he survive?
A.M. Arthur, you are killing me!!!! It’s Breaking Free all over again lol. Well, you know what I mean. I’m so excited because all my guys are back, but sad because of events that have happened and are happening. With Frey, I was so happy for that boy. Having remembered what Monte was like to begin with, with his mate being gone, it’s been hell. The two older boys are gone and Frey and his two younger brothers sometimes fear for themselves. Monte hasn’t been physical with them….yet. But he can be verbal and cutting. Frey tries to be sympathetic because of Omegin’s death, but sometimes it’s just too much. Especially since he looks just like Omegin and Monte snarls at him often because of the reminder. So getting to be out from under his sire alone was a happy moment for him, but because of his age, he was afraid he’d never find his mate. Normally guys his age are mated by now. So meeting Gaven and knowing, was just the best thing ever for him.
For Gaven, being only nineteen and in school, he shouldn’t be looking for a mate but the alpha in him wants someone to settle with. And following in Serge’s footsteps, he knows he will work long hours but he will be able to support an Omega and his children. After crushing on some other Omega with Rei, that caused their rift, he was happy to find his bondmate. His true bondmate. But with all that happened and happens in this relationship, it takes its toll. And they both have a long road back. They both have to learn to trust and forgive and believe in each other. It will take time and patience but hopefully, it will all work out. You’ll have to read to find out.
And it’s worth every page. I can’t wait to see who is next. There is a lot going on in this book so it could be anybody.
