BLURB:
No way was Arne going to allow fate to chain him to a guy who thought all creatures, even those determined to kill you, were worthy of saving. Arne was a Viking warrior, death was his thing and he was damned good at it.
Dermot Kincaid believed all of God’s creations deserved respect. He was a pacifist at heart, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t stand up for himself. Even when that meant getting retribution against the asshole who thought he was better than anyone else.
When Arne and Dermot are attacked, they must find common ground so they can work together to defeat the enemy. If they can’t, they may not just risk losing, but they also risk their hearts developing a Fatal Frost.
REVIEW:
Ok, so I love this series. I’ve loved all the books so far, but this one so far is my favorite, because smartass Arne finally met his match and I laughed my ass off so hard at how he got paid back for his mouth. It is absolutely the funniest thing ever. Oh, I was waiting for this one.
Dermot was found by Arne hiding in the closet with his little nephew, Gillie, while there were Unseelie pets everywhere. And a sight that made chills go down Arne’s spine. And actual Unseelie itself. So, when he got to where Dermot was he was already pissed about the pets and stuff but even more pissed about the prophecy and so when he found Dermot, he was less than nice. He called Dermot all kinds of names, not even bothering to find out why they were there or Dermot’s background or why he didn’t want to fight or anything. He just kept calling him a coward and chicken and all kinds of names. Dermot dealt with it until he opened his mouth too far several times and made little Gillie cry and that was it for Dermot. Arne got what was coming to him plus some. And everyone had a good laugh. But what everyone also found out, was what Dermot really knew and how he had Aed’s journals and maybe a way to defeat the fae and close the veil forever. But knowing they were working with the Fae that betrayed Aed to begin with, set Dermot off and there may be no coming back from this. Especially when he goes to storm off only to be met by Unseelie pets who weren’t supposed to be able to get anywhere near the compound. On the run for their lives, Arne and Dermot both have to decide to keep fighting fate and their mating or finally let go before they lose each other forever.
Man, I have wanted to see someone put Arne in his place so bad. He’s all blister outside but fluff on the inside, no matter how much of an ass he acts like. But the funniest part, is because of his mouth, he’s pushed too far with some things and now Dermot has a way that gets him back and not a dang thing Arne can do to stop it. He finally met his match and no matter how bad he fights it, that alone makes Arne want him so bad. But when Arne finally loses the attitude, he’s actually perfect for Dermot and Gillie too. He’s the strength Dermot needs, especially when he finds out why Dermot is the way he is. And he realizes that because of what Dermot has been studying, there’s more going on than they all knew.
But the end has me in suspense. It’s not necessarily a cliffhanger. There’s an HEA. But the others have been dispatched to find remaining druids and after this closing of the veil, they got a surprise that shook them all to their core. So, I’m ready to see what’s next. A damn good series.
