An Uncommon Whore Story
Pasha is a slave, whoring for travelers at the most treacherous bar on Warlan. The day Pasha spots the dangerous pirate in the bar, he knows he mustn’t let the stranger slip away, no matter what he must do to draw his attention.
Captain Griffin Hawke spent the better part of a decade searching for his lost king, only to find Helios Dayspring crouched between his legs, swathed in the robes and shackles of a whore. Though he is appalled by the downfall of his king, Grif falls for the sensual creature who has taken his place. After a brutal invasion stripped his people of nearly everything, they desperately need Helios to lead them. But returning him to the throne means smuggling him off the planet, disabling the chip that keeps him submissive and forgetful. They will face old enemies, traitors, and greedy opportunists who’d like to strip their new planet of its wealth.
It might mean Grif losing his lover… and they’ve both lost too much already.
REVIEW:
Pasha, a slave on a desolate outpost has been doing his job for a long time. His owner pimps him out when he’s out of money. On this particular day, Pasha notices a one-eyed pirate. Somehow, someway, he knows that this man is the one who can save him. When the opportunity arises, he does what he can to get his attention. When they leave to spend the night together, it’s Pasha who gets the biggest surprise.
It turns out that this pirate, Griffin Hawke, knows WHO Pasha really is. And that is the biggest surprise of all. He is really Helios Dayspring – the missing king of Grif’s decimated people. Unfortunately, Lio has had his memory wiped – numerous times – and he is enslaved and chipped. Grif needs to figure out how to get him off this planet and back to his people. Helios’s people need their king desperately. They haven’t faired well post their betrayal and defeat.
As Grif and Lio make their way back to their people, there are those who would stop them. There are betrayals and surprising allies found along the way. But mostly there is the love between Grif and Lio that comes into full flower. They have loved each other forever, but things have always gotten in the way of them truly being together – including their own hang-ups. Maybe with their people in need of the true king, things can be different this time. But nothing will be easy – as it certainly hasn’t been to this point either.
I absolutely adored this story the first time I read it back in 2011. My love for it has only grown. I do miss the PL Nunn cover. I have the special illustrated edition and I cherish it! The additional content I believe enhances this story. I enjoyed getting Helios and Grif’s POVs throughout this story. Honestly, Sci-fi and space stories are nowhere near my favorite genres but this story is so gripping, so engrossing, I just couldn’t help myself. I found myself once again reading faster and faster. I cannot wait to read the next updated book as well. This is one of my favorite series – I have the poster from Book 3 on my office wall 🙂 It’s truly a beautiful love story that is exciting, suspenseful and romantic. Grif and Lio are MADE for each other. Now if everyone else can just get on the bus 😉
