REVIEW:
I was so happy to see Max and Isaac have more to their story. But when you get into this, there’s pasts to deal with. Parents who kicked them out when they were teens for being gay, homelessness, AIDS, secrets, abuse. There’s a lot that comes out in this story and it’s a test of their relationship.
Max and Isaac get a chance to see each other again in Lisbon, when Max, David and Joel were there. But something came up, Isaac had to rush out and leave with a guy who was trying to stake claim to Isaac. And after that, Joel’s lost his family, he and David broke up for a bit and it was just a lot of turmoil Max was trying to help them all through. Joel’s parents were like his own so that didn’t help. It also didn’t help that when Isaac and Max tried to email each other, they had gotten the addresses wrong and so it seemed like they were ignoring each other. But months later they got a chance again to see each other and it went much better. They explained things that had happened and it was like time had stood still for them. The love was still there. But Max had to leave again in a week and this time seemed even worse when leaving. It was heartbreaking. But everyone of Max’s friends were being sneaky and thought up a plan. One that coincided with Jean-Paul and Dorian having to go to Paris. Max and Isaac are back together again. But the past has a way of sneaking up on you when you least expect it and it just smacked Max in the face. Not only that but the nightmares Max was having wasn’t helping. Will all this finally be the straw that breaks everything or is there hope for them after all?
Gah, all of these guys have had some kind of history or something that has happened in their lives, but these two just can’t seem to catch a break or get on the same page. And when they finally do, it’s like everything is conspiring against them. It’s been a rough time for them. So when the other guys conspired to get them together, it made me so happy. The tears they shed over finally being together. Oh, don’t get me wrong. They were about to have some hell of times coming their way, but they were doing all they could to keep afloat and stand strong together, no matter what. And it turned in their favor. Doesn’t mean life isn’t going to stop coming against them. But they’ve realized they’re all a family with a few more added in and they have a bond that can’t be broken.
And now there’s going to be a long lost person coming into the fold in the next book and I am definitely ready to see how that’s going to turn out. It’s been a good series.
