BLURB:
Falcon: Three years ago, I arrived at the scene of an art heist to find Kingston Wilde tied to a radiator, claiming to be an innocent bystander in the wrong place at the wrong time. It was only later I learned he was actually the elusive art thief I’d been tracking for years. And I was the one who’d let him sweet-talk his way out of my grasp. Ever since, I’ve made it my mission to get my hands on him again, and this time I don’t plan on letting go.
Unfortunately, fate has other plans. A priceless artifact has gone missing, and King is the only one who can help recover it. I thought nothing could be worse than being forced to work with the egotistical SOB, but I was wrong. Falling for the charming art thief in the middle of an operation is way, way worse.
King: The key to being a good art thief is knowing when to call it quits. After one too many close calls, I decide it is the right time to head home to Hobie, Texas, intending to hang up my lockpicks for good.
Unfortunately, the FBI has other plans. Agent Dirk Falcon approaches me with an offer I can’t refuse: full immunity for my past crimes in exchange for helping him with one last job.
The catch? The job involves stealing from the very man who taught me everything I know. The same man who double-crossed me years ago. Pulling this off means trusting Falcon and his team, but how do I trust the sexy agent when he’s staked his career on taking me down?
REVIEW:
King Me was different from other books in the series – in a really good way. I’m not an art or history lover myself – but boy did King make me interested in art – and art heists! Not to say that it’ll be my next career choice, as such, but I’d love to read more stories with them. And when you add in a sexy agent hot on your thieving heels, things are bound to get a bit sticky (pun intended).
Kingston Wilde decided on a career change a couple of years ago when his lover left him tied to a radiator at the scene of their latest heist. To say that he wanted revenge is putting it mildly – and it’s a dish best served cold. He gets his opportunity when Falcon, the FBI agent that’s been hunting him for the past few years offers him a deal; immunity for past heists, in exchange for recovering a stole priceless Hungarian artefact and preventing an international incident. It’s no small order. And can he really trust the man not to double cross him – after all Falcon made the mistake of letting him go once and suffered from it. And can Falcon trust King – a known thief – not to run away with the artefact?
I loved this book, this couple! They had chemistry and the sexual tension was off the charts. I loved watching them dance around each other and with each other. They just clicked for me in every way. Add to that the thrill of the mission, the levels of deception, great bantering and this was a great way to spend the day. I think it might just be my favourite Wilde novel to boot.
Michael Pauley truly captured the magic of this book. Made you feel like you were right there planning the heists, the breaking and entering – and in the middle of the dance between Falcon and King…err or not. Anyway, he brought you there, made you feel the rush and excitement and just like always his pacing was just right. As was the distinction between the different characters, which made it easy to know who was narrating.
This was a great addition to a series that I’d mostly given up on, but if this book is anything to go by, I need to keep an eye out for more releases in the future.
