REVIEW:
Ok. So. As you can see, this is book 6. I did not get to read the first 5, so I’m glad I could still kind of follow along. This was my fault. I wasn’t paying attention that it was part of a series until it was time to read it. It can kind of be read as a standalone but I strongly recommend that you read the others first. There’s a lot of back history that gets hinted at in the book but reading the others will give you the whole story.
Also, I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I knew there were going to be terrorists and stuff from the blurb, but when I first started reading it, it was just this group of couples and friends going on vacation and their children and sexy times. Also, there are MMF relationships in this story as well. Two in fact. There’s a MM and a MMM as well. So quite a mix.
But those group of friends that have come together through the other stories, have decided to go on vacation and their destination ends up being in Hawaii. What they don’t know is at the same time, a very bad man and known terrorist is flying there as well. And within a day, chaos ensues. The MMM trio is shot at by a sniper. One hit. The MMF couples have the children when the explosions around town start. And Ryan, the FBI and part of the MM, is called in. Unfortunately, it’s time for him to work and when he finds out who it is, he knows why he’s been called in. They do everything they can to find and capture this guy. But at every turn, there’s something else. A mole in the department. A plant acting as someone else to blow up a federal building. Parts of the group are hurt and panic is setting in. Especially when it’s found out one of them was shot and information about him leaked. Ryan is running on coffee and fumes and working overtime to with the local FBI to get this guy, but will it be in time before more deaths are found, including anyone in his group?
I really did enjoy this book. I’m not usually one for the MMF relationships but I liked these couples. Most everyone in this group has been through something in their lives: PTSD, kidnappings, gunshots, etc. But they’ve all bonded and are close friends. And the couples have formed bonds that withstand a hell of a lot. So it’s been a good book. I couldn’t help but feel for everyone during this. Although Ryan was the one having to work, his husband was terrified for him and so was everyone else. Everyone was terrified for Niall being shot. And no one knew what could possibly come next. But this is where the family saying comes from. Family is what you make it, not your blood. These guys used their smarts and got everyone together and circled the troops so to speak. They rallied support, love and all they could to keep each other going. Even Ryan.
It’s got some good action for sure. Blood, guts and murder lol. But it’s worth it. Made a damn good book.
