Lorenzo Moretti and Damon Blackwell have never met, but they’re tied together by the same tragedy. They were both there that night. They each lost someone they loved. They’ve been living as shells of their former selves ever since. Running into each other and realizing their shared pasts? Pure serendipity.
Being together is a tingle at the base of Enzo’s spine, a comfort that settles into Damon’s bones. No one understands what they went through the night the club caught fire–until now. For the first time, they have someone to lean on, someone who knows all the right things to say and when to say nothing at all. Neither of them has been with another man before, but their shared connection grows from friendship and explodes into something more, something raw and desperate and real. Now, they’re dealing not only with their pasts, but their new relationship, the one thing that calms their internal storms.
Enzo and Damon might not know much else, but with every touch, with every word, and every night spent exploring each other’s bodies, they know they’re in love. They keep each other going, show each other what happiness really is.
But love alone can’t get them through. Damon and Enzo must decide if they really have what it takes to work through their trauma and fight for the happily ever after that’s waiting just on the horizon.
REVIEW:
Loss can break you! But it can also make you stronger!
I have had the chance to read different kinds of stories in all the years that I have been reading. But I have had only a few surprises along the way and reading MM Romances is one of them. This book has actually astounding me, not only because of the story line but also the main characters are totally raw in how they feel about themselves, about their family, and about each other. We might not believe it, but there are several circumstances depicted here that are totally akin to real life, and it guts me to read it. There are times when I had to stop to take a break and pull myself together, not because I could not handle it, but as life is, we have to get up and live it, notwithstanding the pain!
This story tells us of loss, coping with that loss, and trying to move on from it, no matter how we feel or how others feel, even if there is that feeling of an unfathomable black hole of loneliness inside us. We never wish ill against any of our family, but not everything can be controlled. We can only control what is in us, how we act, how we feel ,and how we cope with things in those moments – everything else is just out of our control! Survivor’s guilt can cripple a person who has a weak resolve and flagging self-confidence! But this story will show us that we can pick ourselves up, be stronger ,and continue to live each day and face life head-on!
Losing someone can break us, especially someone we loved with all of our hearts! Enzo and Damon lost someone they loved very much, and they are just going through their daily lives much like a zombie would. They are going through the motions like they are alive but deep inside they are just empty shells of their former selves. Their meeting was pure serendipity or maybe fate or just being at the right place at the right time. Getting to know each other and learning that they are going through the exact same thing can only be FATE, right?
Becoming best friends for Enzo and Damon is a natural progression, and so is attraction. Then accepting what is to them inevitable. It begins to blossom and grow into something neither one of them expected at all! Can this all be fate? Were they fated to meet, become best friends and maybe lovers and life partners? The excitement of doing all the firsts is a novelty for both Enzo and Damon, both of them not having experienced being with a man before, and they are exploring it to the hilt! The joys of doing things for the first time is to each of them something precious and such an unexpected thing.
