As a young stag-shifter, all Pembroke dreams of is being harnessed to Santa’s sleigh. Yet his world comes crashing down when Santa is slain by the imposter Frost.
War erupts in the Arctic Circle, pitting elf against reindeer, and Pembroke is sent on a perilous mission. If he fails, his herd will be lost. When the mission goes awry, the stag-shifter must put his trust in an unlikely ally.
Where does one turn in a land of ice and blood? What happens when the enemy infiltrates your heart? What begins as a wavering alliance just might take Pembroke farther than he ever imagined.
REVIEW:
This was one strange book for me. I’m still not quite sure what to think about it. The whole book just seemed like it was about a reindeer….well most of the reindeer getting high off sugar plums or the dust and having tons of sex. Or something. And Pembroke having a weird obsession with the ‘Toy-maker’, Santa.
So apparently Elf #492 got sick of the Toy-maker and his crap and decided to lead a takeover. #492 is now known as Frost and has overthrown the North Pole, killing the Toy-maker and some of the reindeer and such. Pembroke and Rudolph and some have escaped but they are barely surviving without the sugar plums or the dust and are dying off. Pembroke tries to go get more but gets caught in a high and almost gets caught. A captured elf hitchhikes on Pembroke as he makes his escape and soon they are discovering another place to help the reindeer and all. But Pembroke doesn’t trust elves because the elves were a part of killing everyone and siding with Frost.
This whole book was just…I don’t know. It seemed like every time you turned around Pembroke was high and flashbacking to orgies or sex or something like that. Or he was high and actually doing it. Even when he was supposed to be doing a job, he was having to be snapped out of whatever high he was in to do what he’s supposed to be doing. I just didn’t get it.
Maybe it’s just me. Give it a shot and see what you guys think.
