BLURB:
Geoffrey of Whalley is a slayer on the mend. Still healing from an almost fatal demon hunt, his full recovery has been slow, with missing memories and odd dreams impeding his recovery.
A call from a friend to investigate a report of an incubus in a small village, sure to be nothing more than an innocent falsely accused, gives him an easy job while he regains his full strength, and an opportunity to find a new intermediary, one who suits better than the last.
When Geoffrey arrives, he finds the accused is new to town, and none of the usual signs of an incubus. But four people have disappeared recently, and he refuses to leave until he finds out why. There is evil in the village, but not in the form Geoffrey imagines.
REVIEW:
This series is pretty good. I wish there was a little more action in this one, but it was still good. Still more greedy morons trying to blame others to take the heat off themselves. But this time, the evil they face is and ‘old friend’.
Geoffrey is so lonely. As a Slayer, he’s used to it but it’s getting worse lately. And after recovering from the last demon attack, he’s still feeling off. Memories are missing, gaps in his mind. But he goes on this mission to see what the fuss is about an Incubus at work. When he enters the town, he’s already on guard. The squire of the town is greatly feared for some reason and he sets off warming flares for Geoffrey. But Geoffrey investigates anyway, and what he discovers floods his mind with everything it’s missed. This man isn’t an incubus. It’s Ralf. His lover, his helper, his soul mate. And as his memories return and the truth of everything is revealed, Geoffrey is done. He will find out what is going on in this town as promised, but after that, he and Ralf are leaving for good. What they didn’t expect was the evil in this town was the demon that injured and hurt them to begin with. And without some help, this time they won’t make it out alive.
The lies and the betrayals in Geoffrey’s and Ralf’s lives, to me, are unforgivable. To Geoffrey, they are as well. They were lied to, hidden from each other and tried to be pushed in ways they weren’t meant to go. So when they found each other, it was two halves of a whole finding each other again. I don’t think I could have been as calm as Geoffrey about it. But then again, he’s had training lol. And Ralf, to ally felt whole again after being broken for so long.
The evil they had to face down again was scary. Especially since it was the one who hurt them to begin with. It’s the good vs evil thing and it’s a good story. Karma is a bitch. That’s all I have to say. Give this series a go.
