Sergeant Corbin “Syn” Sydney had dedicated his life to becoming the best detective. So when he heard there was an opening on the notorious Atlanta Narcotics Task Force, he jumped at the chance. But, what he wasn’t ready for was realizing just how lonely he’d made himself, when he observed the loving and dedicated relationship between the two men he served under: Lieutenant Cashel “God” Godfrey and Lieutenant Leonidis Day.
Syn prepared himself to accept his lonely fate until he walked into a small pub and met the long-haired, tattooed bartender, Furious Barkley. Before Syn can even understand why, he’s overcome with feelings he barely recognizes: passion, yearning, craving. And if the dark, lustful gazes are anything to go by, Furious might be feeling the same things for him.
Just two thing needs to happen before Syn and Furi can give each other what’s been missing from their lives for so long…Syn needs to find the evidence that proves Furi’s innocence of murder, as well as protect him from a past that refuses to let go.
Contains mature themes.
REVIEW:
This was a great sequel to Nothing Special. Syn and Furi are a Great couple and their HEA was well deserved.
Syn…God I Love that name…is a great character. He’s a great cop and wanted to work with the best, so he moved to Atlanta to work with God & Day and their task force. Syn came onto the scene and quite frankly stole the show for me. He’s this really great guy and when he decides something…he’s all in. I liked that he struggled with being open in a relationship as he’s never been in one, and yet, he falls for Furi so quickly and it was a pleasure to watch him grow, not only as a cop, but as a man in a relationship.
Furi stole my heart. The crap that he’s gone through with his husband and brother in law. To be abused the way he was and still fight hard to get out and make his dreams come true. That he’s in school and working both for his uncle and as a web cam guy. That he’s following his dreams and wants to make his father proud. I liked that he was really wary about getting into another relationship as he was focused on his goals and he makes Syn work for it. I liked that as the story progressed he softened a bit and he allowed himself to be vulnerable.
I liked that their time together was so beautiful to watch. That they both stumble to find their way. It shows the true strength of character to allow yourself to be so open and vulnerable.
There are some pretty nice sexy times in this story as A.E. does so well. I was so happy to see these characters allow themselves to truly fall into each other and themselves. They way it wasn’t a run and jump into bed together, but that they allowed themselves to get to know each other and allow that attraction to grow.
There was a nice mystery and I liked how A.E. pulled it all together so that it was resolved in a believable way. I liked that the secondary characters in this story really helped to move along and that you see how friendship and family are however you make them. There was such great humor in this story as well.
“I’m the Whore-Whisper”…that had me rolling…I kept repeating that part as it kept making me laugh. Hell, I’m still laughing as I write this.
Aiden Snow again did such a wonderful job in this audiobook. I swear it seems to me that he gets better and better each time I hear his voice. Again, he did such an Amazing job and I’m looking forward to hearing more of him.
