REVIEW by Danielle
Let me first start with what a fabulous unexpected beginning of this book! I absolutely loved it and as I said totally didn’t expect that so that made it even more special. No I am not going to mention anything else because I am definitely not spoiling anything but it warmed my heart.
It also caused me a good couple of hours sleep because I only wanted to take a quick peek before going to sleep as I was curious but ended up not being able to stop reading till I kind of passed out at 4.30 am 😀
This is a wonderful edition to an already incredible series. I even dare to say one of the best series around. After the second Lucas book and the second Snow book we were up to Rowe and Noah of course and the blurb had me all worried about what was going to happen. I didn’t feel like the authors would do anything permanent but still I was anxious to see what they would pull out of their hats for both of them.
And we sure got a rollercoaster ride. I love the deep heartfelt emotions between Rowe and Noah, their inner thoughts and struggles – I think I loved that best about this whole book. The excitement , the plot , and the action was all a nice bonus though 😀
Second best thing is the “Family.” Gosh how I love those moments with all of them. The best way to describe it is that it gives me all the feels and makes me bask in warmth.
I am thankful that both authors decided to crawl back into these worlds/series. In combination with Ward Security, it keeps me interested and absolutely involved in all these men’s lives.
But let’s not forget the other main player in this story – JB – I mean ok ladies I get the ranch love and feelings but damn he looked good in the Ward Security part and let’s be honest, despite where he will be, you can’t not write his story right…right …
Basically, there wasn’t much I didn’t like about this book – I loved Noah and Rowe , their friends and family, JB , the writing, and the storytelling. It kept me interested and involved throughout the whole book and that is something I appreciate more and more.
If you haven’t read this series (Unbreakable Bonds) you are missing out on something big. Just look at it this way, ooh boy are you in for a treat with all these books waiting for you , because you definitely are going to read them right. 😉
REVIEW by JEN B.
I was pretty critical of the previous book, and for those same reasons, I was a little hesitant to read this one. Knowing it was again about Rowe and Noah, whom I loved from their original story, I wasn’t sure I wanted to take the chance on my feelings about them changing. Well, I’m glad I didn’t listen to those fears this time. We get a wonderful heartwarming glimpse of the gang right from the get go and reassurances that all was basically well with our main couple, although I still had some worry that would change before the story ended.
Thankfully, the authors gave us a story more in line with the earlier ones – ex-military turned security gurus treading in the shallow mercenary waters who do it all for their partners and family. This almost felt like an about-face from the issues I was having where everyone was getting married and having uncontrollable needs/wants to have children. To the contrary, these guys spent much of the story worrying about not wanting to be married or have children, which did get a little tedious, but hey, I’ll take that over the other any day. It basically boiled down to lack of communication, but their feelings and relationship was never in question.
When trouble comes knocking on Noah’s door, Rowe does what he does best and steps in to make sure he doesn’t lose Noah much the same way he lost Mel. Throw in some jealousy involving Noah’s old teammate, JB, and things get even more interesting. There was more of the fabulous banter these guys are all known for, especially when the rest of the team is involved. I always love seeing Andrei and Lucas and snippets of the others as well. Of course, the code names and body counting brings out the chuckles, and re-ignites memories of past stories.
As for the action side of the story, it was definitely a little over the top and a bit convoluted, but it did get to show the guys back in action doing what they do best combining their past military skills with their more recent security skills. And, once again, thank goodness Frost is on the team, because he and his skills are definitely needed with this gang.
Back to Rowe and Noah – strong as ever, still very in love and thankful for each other, and still hot for each other and taking advantage of that whenever they can. I do love those scenes, although I admit I started skimming slightly here and there. They even packed sex toys in their GO-bag – Prepared Level – GENIUS for sure. And even though some of the scenes occurred at what felt inappropriate or inopportune times, it was still quite enjoyable, because, what the heck, who doesn’t want another smoking hot smexy scene?
Anyhoo, by the end, my fears were gone and all was well in my world. These guys were happy with their relationship and they didn’t want anything about that to change, allowing them to still do all the crazy and exciting things they were currently experiencing, and I was thrilled to see that. I was left happy again and thinking fond thoughts about the rest of this series, even looking forward to another Ian/Hollis story, although I realize they are more likely to be in the other camp wanting a whole brood of children (not my words 😉 ) now that they are happily married. In the end, I just want to see Ian (and Hollis) happy, so I’ll be ready for it ahead of time. 🙂
