A warm love bytes welcome to author Tia Fielding joining us today to talk about new release “Four”.
Hi, I’m Tia, and I have so much difficulty coming up with promo posts, so basically I’m just going to talk about something that’s been on my mind and well, I hope someone finds it interesting!
Today’s topic is, drumroll please, Bucket Lists!
First of all, what’s a Bucket List? It’s a list of things you want to experience before you die, or “kick the bucket.” I think there’s a movie with some old guys in it, filling in their bucket lists. I haven’t seen it, so I can’t vouch for that one, sadly.
But young people can make bucket lists too. I don’t know where I fall in the age scale at thirty-eight, but I guess I’m somewhere in between? The thing is, I’ve had items on my bucket list for a long, long time.
A decade ago, I was about to fill my first item, but it didn’t happen. What was the experience I was after? To see one of my absolute favorite artists, P!nk, in concert.
It was the Funhouse Tour, and she was in Helsinki, and I even got a ticket! But then, the closer the concert date came, I realized I just didn’t have the funds to actually get to Helsinki, because I live in the middle of nowhere, and so I had to resell the ticket.
I was, and honestly still am, bummed that I didn’t get to see her. This year, her tour isn’t coming to Finland at all, but for once, that actually makes me happy. Why? Well….
This year, I’ve been to Helsinki once already, in February. I went to see Twenty One Pilots in concert with my sister. They’re one of my favorite bands, but they’re not on my bucket list. The thing is, there’s another concert later this month that I’m also going to, and that one’s on my list!
So who am I going to travel five hours to see? I’m finally, finally, going to see Ed Sheeran live!
I’m so excited! He’s been one of my favorite artists for a long time now, and my sister has seen him once already when he came to Sweden and she could go with some extended family. Me, I haven’t been that lucky yet.
This time I have tickets for both the concert and the train to get there and back, and an old friend has promised my sister and I a roof over our heads while we’re in Helsinki. So this one, barring emergencies or nasty surprises, is totally going to happen!
What else is on my list, now that I’m probably getting one thing crossed over?
Well, for one, there’s an extended stay in Brighton, England, on that list. By “extended” I mean more than a couple of weeks. I’d love to stay there for a month or more at some point in my life, because it feels like another home to me for some reason.
The first time I visited Brighton was when I was sixteen and on a language course in Hastings. We visited Brighton as a group one day, and I fell in love with the city so hard it left a huge impact.
I’ve been back couple of times since, and if anyone asks where I’d travel if I could just leave right now, the answer is always Brighton.
I guess the very first thing I ever crossed from my bucket list was to be published (since that P!nk concert never happened for me.)
See, when I was a kid, all I wanted to be was an author. At some point in my teens, I vowed that I’d be published before my 30th birthday. I was, indeed published, a couple of days after that date.
I’m still following that dream today, 8 years later. Four, the second book in the Love by Numbers series, is my tenth novel. I guess I should celebrate that somehow, right? But maybe singing along with Ed Sheeran will count as a celebration? I certainly think so!
Blurb:
A Love by Numbers Story
When unlikely attraction blossoms between a twentysomething genderqueer tattoo artist and an older, small-town veterinarian, both are forced to face their pasts for a chance at a loving future.
Four years ago Padraig Donovan lost his husband, the only man he’d ever been with. Now his life consists of the work he loves, a big empty house, and the possibility of a lonely future.
Kaos’s experiments with makeup landed him in the hospital at the hands of his disapproving ex. With nowhere else to turn, he flees to Acker, Wisconsin… and runs into a sexy widower and the kindest man he’s ever met.
Padraig and Kaos know there’s something worth exploring between them, and as they raise a puppy and deal with the ups and downs of their respective jobs, they fit into each other’s lives in ways they never expected. Being with Kaos—who is so different than the guys he’s always been attracted to—opens up an exciting new world for Padraig. But can he convince Kaos to trust another man with his body… let alone his heart?
