BLURB:
Max Maldonado loves baseball. He knows playing first base at a private college probably won’t get him to the big leagues, but he doesn’t mind. He loves the game and his teammates. If he has to stay in the closet until he graduates, that’s okay. Baseball comes first. Relationships are complicated anyway. And after his recent messy breakup, Max prefers to keep things simple.
Phoenix Bell is a fabulous theater geek. He’s excited about his recent transfer to a new school with an elite liberal arts program. Life has been on hold for a while, but this opportunity feels like the fresh start he was hoping for when he moved to California. And the chance reunion with the hot closeted jock is an unexpected surprise. The two men have nothing in common and their timing couldn’t be worse. However, when their unconventional alliance blossoms into friendship and perhaps something more, it may be time to make some hard decisions. And perhaps risk it all…out in the field.
REVIEW:
I so love this series. I was sad for Max in Christian and Rory’s story with all the crap he was going through with that ass Sky. Plus, being Christian’s ex, yeah, they’re best friends now, but he can’t help but feel a little green with envy that Christian is happy and living his life the way he wants to. So I was happy he was getting his story. And there is no more perfect person for him then Phoenix.
Phoenix and Max have actually met before. They just didn’t realize it until they were up close. They had had a lovely make-out/dance session in a club in LA. And honestly, neither forgot about the other one. But then, Max was with Sky and Phoenix lived somewhere else. When Max saw him on campus, Phoenix told him he transferred to be in the theater program. And Max wanted him. But Max still wasn’t out. They made an ‘arrangement’ that involved no strings attached, but the more they spent time together, the more the feelings were changing. Just when things seemed to be getting good, and to the point Max may come out, the past comes barreling back in Max’s life and Phoenix can’t handle being in the closet anymore. So Max has some decisions to make or he may lose the one for him for good.
Can I just say I hate Sky with a passion? Like for real. I get he has issues as far as coming out and his family and stuff, but dude, he’s such an asshole for real. Oh my gah. Ok. Anyway lol.
On the opposite note, I absolutely adore Phoenix. He’s just perfect for Max. He brings Max out of his shell and makes Max want more out of life. He makes Max feel something. They both do that for each other. And there’s just something super special about Phoenix. He’s just one of those people you can help but gravitate to because he’s like the sun in the sky. You just want to circle him for warmth and light. These two together are just beautiful. Even with their little deal, it was more than just a screw from the beginning. There was something between them from the start and it just blossomed into so much more.
This series is a good one and you guys are missing out if you aren’t reading it.
